Help us to help you not become a victim of a scam by recognizing and following these simple steps. Help others not become a victim of a scam by sharing this post.

1. Law Enforcement will NOT ask you stay on the phone with them while you go to the bank and withdraw money, purchase gift cards, or pay in bitcoin.
2. We will NEVER ask you to put money on a green dot card or any other type of gift card.
3. We will NEVER tell you not to hang up and not contact your local law enforcement directly.
4. We will NOT ask you to lie to your bank, family or friends in order to obtain payment.
5. We do NOT ask you to sign a summons to appear in court.
6. We will NOT require you to pay money to avoid arrest before going into an official place of business such as a courthouse, police department or Sheriff’s Office.

Scammers will commonly use the following lies which can be very believable.
1. You missed Jury Duty and you can avoid going to jail by giving us a large amount of money
2. You failed to appear in court and you can avoid going to jail by giving us a large amount of money.
3. You signed a summons to appear and you didn’t show

🚨SCAM ALERT🚨 A prevalent nationwide scam using AI to create a scary phone call, including a loved one's voice, has hit Fayetteville multiple times, and we want you to be aware.

In many instances, the scam happens something like this: someone gets a phone call, and either an unfamiliar voice demands money with their loved one's voice in the background sounding as if they're in distress, or the loved one's voice is the one asking for money. They are usually told not to hang up and to follow directions on how to send money.

Nationwide, this scam has become very common, and countless stories have victims hanging up and calling their loved ones directly. The loved one will answer, completely unharmed and unaware of what is happening.

We want you to be aware of this to avoid becoming a victim. If someone you know calls in distress, stating they are in harm's way and a large amount of money is needed immediately, hang up. Once you hang up, call that person's phone number directly.
📞You can report any scam that happens in Fayetteville at 479-587-3555.
