each year 99B is joined by students at the University of Arkansas looking to be more involved with the story of disability through our fellowship/internship.

one of our 2025-26 interns, Montana, shared “this internship has completely reshaped the way I think about belonging, 99 Balloons has opened my eyes to how powerful inclusion truly is……not just as an idea but as something that changes lives. through every event, conversation, and relationship, I’ve seen what it looks like when everyone is valued for exactly who they are. I’m so thankful to be part of something that reflects Christ’s love so clearly.”

when we think of all that we are thankful for, at the top of our list is friendship like this. the good and hard of life feels different when you experience it alongside a great friend.

these are just a few of our bEfriend Communities celebrating fall + serving their local community + hosting Friendsgiving. 🍂

bEfriend creates simple yet profound friendships between people with & without disability. Many adults with disabilities primarily interact with family or paid staff but we believe in a different story - one where friendships are freely given and life is shared. it changes everything. 🎈✨

this weekend we send off a team for a vision trip to our Uganda partner + launch 2 NEW rEcess sites in Missouri & Georgia

it’s not lost on us that relationship by relationship the whole story of disability changes…….our world can become far too separated and we want to see those with & without disability living in the gift of real, authentic friendship for all ages

1. those sent on our vision trip to Uganda to dream of the future as the children we serve transition into adulthood….how do they continue to really be known in their community?
2. For Harvest Hill Church in MO, as they take their former respite nights and use the rEcess model to go deeper tonight!!!

remember Dana? she noticed a need - her friend Corey spent every church service in a side room with her daughter Klementine, Dana offered to spend time caring for Klementine who has a disability so Corey’s family could worship together.

Dana grew up with an older brother who had autism and epilepsy. he passed away in 2015 but living life alongside him gave her a unique perspective. today, Dana seeks to serve in his memory. Dana has become part of the Addison family’s story - and they, hers.

“the truth is, Jesus is at work through her,” Corey said. “it was Him giving her the courage to reach out and help our family in the most beautiful way. when people like Dana choose to step in, to do life alongside families like ours, it transforms everything.”

sometimes, God weaves lives together long before we realize it.

that’s true for Dana Goodall and Corey Addison, who launched a new rEcess site at .

the two had known each other for years - Corey and her husband once served as student leaders to Dana’s son. when Dana’s family joined Family Church in early 2024, it felt like a full-circle moment: old friends reconnecting in a new season.

soon after, Dana noticed Corey spending Sundays with her youngest daughter, Klementine, who has a disability.
out of kindness, she offered to care for Klementine one-on-one during the service.

“that simple act was such a huge blessing,” Corey said, “it allowed me to worship and sit with my family for that one precious hour each Sunday.”

as their friendship deepened, Dana shared her own experience growing up with a sibling who had a disability. around that same time, Program Director Sarah Coffey, reached out to Corey about starting rEcess - an answered prayer that turned compassion into a shared calling.

Since launching, the rEcess program has grown from two families to five, welcoming 17 kids total (18 months to 16 years) and 25 volunteers (many are students at ) 🎈

we talk a lot about the “welcome” of our rEcess nights - churches welcoming families experiencing disability into this night of respite just to say “we love you, we see you, and we want to do this life with you!”

Next month, we’re sending a small team to Uganda to spend time with our partners and families and learn how to better support children with disabilities as they grow into adulthood. Grateful to be part of creating spaces around the globe, where those with & without disabilities can be truly known. Join us in prayer as our team travels, learns, and dreams with our friends in Uganda!

rEcess is a respite night model that 99 Balloons provides & helps contextualize for any size church and community 🤍

one family in TN expressed a powerful moment at rEcess pickup where they shared, “we actually got to go on a date for the first time in two years.”

another Florida based bEfriend Community launched this year & on a training call this morning, they shared about the dignifying roles one friend experiencing disability was invited into during one of their Community Gatherings (pictured above)….

“she’s used to being served or someone waiting on her & now she is just being part of the team” they added, “this really has become our community.”

bEfriend invites churches to facilitate spaces where friends with & without disability know each other - not a “one sided” serving the other, but serving alongside each other……mutually receiving friendship.

just a glimpse of some of the storytelling that happened at NF99, it’s a gift to us all to engage in real friendships forming through programs like rEcess - that prove they really are so much more than a program.

WHO WE ARE PART 5: at first we just wanted to give families rest + a place where kids with disabilities could just be kids and feel celebrated.

but as time passed, we watched those kids grow up and it may seem obvious but the need doesn’t end with childhood.

we wanted to offer spaces where adults with and without disabilities could have real, long term friendships. not a program. not a service. but a shared life together.

so we started bEfriend - a relational model of ministry for adults with & without disability to be Paired in 1-1 friendships and to be part of local Community Gatherings that any church or community could begin hosting🎈
