This Independence Day, we say a special thanks to the nurses working through the holiday and every day to keep their communities safe. Nurses across the country are on the frontlines treating injuries, including burns caused by fireworks and other accidents. 🚨 The Senate has passed H.R.1, AKA "One Big Beautiful Bill", if signed into law the bill would devastate access to care for millions of Americans and place even more strain on nurses.

“Patients and nurses deserve better,” said ANA President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN. "Medicaid is not just a budget line—it’s a lifeline. It supports older adults in nursing homes, children with complex needs, and working families. It also funds the very healthcare facilities where nurses work."

Cuts to Medicaid mean:
- Hospital and clinic closures, especially in rural and underserved communities
- Increased nurse burnout and attrition
- Worse patient outcomes nationwide

This is an important reminder that voters care deeply about health care, and they are paying attention. Constituents, especially nurses and their patients, are relying on our elected officials to do the right thing and to protect Medicaid.

This is a great safety guide for children swimming in lakes and swimming pools. The color of the bathing suit can make it easier or more difficult to see children while they are swimming. This is a good reminder to always have adult supervision when children are swimming. (Thanks to Praire Lakes Healthcare System.)
