TWO-ALARM HOTEL FIRE WITH RESCUES MADE

Just prior to 5am, the multiple units from the Fayetteville Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a hotel on fire at 4105 Sycamore Dairy Road. Engine 6 arrived on scene just 4 and a half minutes after being dispatched and found fire showing from the roofline of a three-story hotel, with a heavy fire located on the C side of the building. Multiple occupants were rescued from exterior windows via ladders. The fire is now under control. One person was transported to the hospital by EMS for treatment. Additionally, 65 occupants have been displaced from the building.

Responding units: Engine 6, Truck 6, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Engine 5, Truck 8, Truck 9, Squad 3, Squad 4, Squad 5, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Air 1, Car 3, Car 7.

THREE WORKING HOUSE FIRES THIS AFTERNOON

Fayetteville Firefighters, along with their partners from mutual aid departments, battled three significant structure fires today shortly after lunch. In one of these fires, an occupant was found and removed from the structure by firefighters.

12:07 PM: Multiple Fayetteville Fire Department units were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Wilder Drive in the Water's Edge neighborhood. Engine 8 arrived on scene first and reported heavy fire showing from two separate single-story houses. Responding units worked diligently to extinguish both fires, with significant damage reported to both structures. One dog was removed from one of the structures. The Red Cross was requested to assist the occupants of both homes.

Responding Units: Engine 8, Engine 6, Engine 12, Engine 15, Engine 9, Engine 4, Truck 6, Truck 9, Squad 5, Squad 17, Squad 4, Rescue 2, Air 1, Battalion 2.

2:19 pm: Multiple units from the Fayetteville Fire Department as well as neighboring county departments were dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire on Empress Lane. Engine 17 arrived on scene and found heavy fire showing from a two-story, single-family residence with report of at least one person inside. Under heavy fire conditions, members of the Cumberland Road Fire Department, assisted by Fayetteville Fire Department Truck 6, performed a VEIS and located and removed one resident. Due to the extensive volume of fire, additional units were requested to complete extinguishment.

Initial responding units: Engine 17, Engine 4, Cumberland Road Engine 512, Stoney Point Engine 1311, Truck 6, Hope Mills Truck 2152, Squad 1, Squad 3, Air 1, Battalion 3, Car 5, Car 1.

WEEKLY SUMMARY

From December 28, 2025 through January 3, 2026 your Fayetteville Firefighters responded to 563 incidents. Incidents included the following:

12/29: Fayetteville Firefighters responded to a report of an apartment fire in the 6400 block of Yadkin Road. Engine 9 and Truck 9 arrived on scene first and reported smoke showing from a two-story apartment residence. Units immediately began suppression and searches in the fire apartment. During primary search, one adult and one toddler were located. Both were removed from the structure with CPR in progress. Both were transported by Cumberland County EMS to Cape Fear Valley Hospital where the adult was pronounced deceased. The child was subsequently flown to UNC Hospital.

1/1: Engine 4, Squad 4 and Engine 9 were dispatched to a report of an outside fire in the 4900 block of Fieldcrest Drive. Upon arrival, units found a duplex heavily involved in fire. Additional units were requested. The fire was extinguished with no injuries to civilians or FFD personnel reported.

1/2: Engine 8 was dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident on Cliffdale Road. While en route, the call was upgraded and multiple other FFD units were dispatched. Arriving units found a serious vehicle accident with one vehicle overturned and on fire. Fayetteville Firefighters immediately initiated fire suppression and patient care. One victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital, while two more victims were taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in critical condition.

1/3: Engine 6 was dispatched to a report of a shooting at a popular restaurant on McPherson Church Road. Immediately afterwards, Truck 6 was dispatched to a report of a head-on collision on Cliffdale Road. While Engine 6 was en route to its call, Squad 4 was requested due to reports of multiple victims. While Truck 6 was en route to their collision, Truck 8 was requested due to reports of multiple victims. Engine 6, Squad 4, Truck 6, and Truck 8 along with Cumberland County EMS and the Fayetteville Police Department managed these significant overlapping incidents with professionalism.

Shortly after lunchtime today, Battalion 3 units operated on a major vehicle accident on Cliffdale Road near Regency Drive. Unfortunately, one life was lost in this incident and two other people were transported to the hospital with injuries. Cliffdale Road is expected to be closed through 4:00 pm while the Police Department conducts an investigation.

Responding units: Engine 8, Truck 8, Engine 11, Engine 15, Rescue 2, Battalion 3, Car 3.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Morning have been busy for your Fayetteville Firefighters. The last call of 2025 went to Engine 8 at 11:59:26 pm. The first call of 2026 belonged to Engine 7 just 8 seconds into new year.

Just before 6:30 am, multiple Fayetteville Fire Department units responded to a report of a structure fire on Fieldcrest Drive in the Bonnie Doone neighborhood. Squad 4 arrived on scene and reported heavy-fire showing from a single-story duplex. The fire was brought under control and no injuries have been reported.

Responding units: Squad 4, Engine 4, Engine 9, Engine 6, Engine 3, Squad 3, Truck 9, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Air 1.

Yesterday afternoon, firefighters were dispatched to a report of an apartment fire on Yadkin Road near the Fillyaw Road intersection. Engine 9 arrived on scene first and found smoke showing from the first floor of a two-story apartment residence. One adult and one pediatric patient were located and removed during primary search, with Firefighters initiating CPR on both patients prior to arrival of Cumberland County EMS. Sadly, the adult patient did not survive. The pediatric patient was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of the adult, and we pray for the recovery of the pediatric patient. We thank our public safety partners from the Fort Bragg Fire Department, the Fayetteville Police Department, and Cumberland County EMS for their assistance at this challenging scene.

Last night, Engine 3, Squad 3, Engine 14, Rescue 1, Truck 7, Battalion 1 and Car 3, along with Cumberland County EMS and the Fayetteville Police Department, responded to a vehicle accident on Rosehill Road near Walstone Drive. Three individuals were found deceased on scene with a fourth being airlifted to UNC in critical condition.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls football team, the E. E. Smith High School community, and the friends and family members of those lost. The Fayetteville Professional Fire Fighters Association stands with our community in mourning this tragedy.

Shortly after 3pm, multiple Fayetteville Fire Department units were dispatched to a report of an apartment fire on Tallstone Drive off Ramsey Street. Truck 7 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire showing from the roof of a two-story, multifamily dwelling. Responding units began evacuations and initiated an aggressive fire attack that contained and extinguished the fire. Four units sustained fire damage. No injuries have been reported.

Units responding: Truck 7, Engine 7, Engine 3, Engine 19, Engine 14, Engine 1, Truck 1, Squad 3, Squad 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Air 1.

Shortly before 10 pm last night, multiple Fayetteville Fire Department units responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the Briarwood Hills subdivision. Engine 5 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing from a two-story residential structure. Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and extinguished the fire. One occupant was treated by EMS on scene. Damage to the home was substantial.

Shortly after lunchtime today, your Fayetteville Firefighters battled simultaneous working fires in different parts of the city.

At 1:12 PM, multiple Fayetteville Fire Department units were dispatched to a structure fire on Conifer Drive. Truck 9 arrived on scene and reported smoke and fire visible from the rear of a single-story residential structure. The fire was quickly controlled by responding units before it could spread to the rest of the structure. One resident was evaluated by EMS on scene.

Responding units: Truck 9, Engine 8, Engine 6, Engine 4, Squad 4, Squad 4, Battalion 3, Air 1.

At 1:16 PM, multiple Fayetteville Fire Department units responded to a structure fire on Spokane Road. Squad 17 arrived on scene and reported smoke coming from the roof of a single-story residential structure. The fire was quickly controlled by responding units. No injuries were reported.

Responding units: Squad 17, Engine 17, Engine 12, Engine 11, Stoney Point Engine 1331, Truck 8, Rescue 2, Battalion 2, Air 1.
