Let’s talk about Postpartum Depression (PPD)—a very real and common condition that affects 1 in 7 women after childbirth. And yet, it’s often misunderstood or overlooked.
PPD isn’t just the “baby blues.” While mood swings and tearfulness can be normal in the first two weeks postpartum, PPD goes deeper and lasts longer. It can show up as:
🔹 Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or worthlessness
🔹 Anxiety or racing thoughts
🔹 Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed
🔹 Feeling disconnected from your baby or afraid to be alone with them
🔹 Difficulty sleeping or eating—even when the baby is resting
And here’s the most important part: PPD is not your fault. Hormonal shifts, lack of sleep, emotional strain, and past mental health history can all contribute.
You are not weak. You are not a bad parent. You are not alone.
💬 Support from therapists, doctors, support groups, and loved ones can make all the difference.💛
