The first guide of regeneration is to create more life.- Paul Hawken

Vediamo! Tending to the urban, LOVE garden brought a delightful surprise to both of us this morning!

A favorite friend- a little turtle! “After 5 years of implementing regenerating…bio-remediating… carbon capturing…biodiversifying… indigenous land practices I’m alway jazzed at each species that ‘comes home to roost’ here, who come to pay a visit. The turtle he comes with a welcomed story, a reminder that we’re healing and regenerating.” Co-director Ashlei Laing.

Turtles are indicator species or sentinel species, which means that their abundance, distribution, and health in the ecosystem are reflective of environmental conditions. We’re so proud of how well we’ve stewarded this tiny environment. I guess he would also be considered our new level of keystone species and apex predictor ;) Welcome friend, enjoy the Zinneas!❤️🐢

🍂🍂Falling into Balance Ayurvedic retreat 🕉~ 🕉~

Let's Re-Connect ourselves through Mother Nature and all her elements. In Ayurveda we find Vata (wind & ether), Pitta (fire & water), & Kapha (earth & water).
Late fall and winter are known as “Vata season” because they are marked by some of the same qualities that characterize Vata:
cold, dry, light, clear, and moving.

A person whose dosha is predominantly Vata will present with a healthy, creative & energetic character. While out of balance Vata may experience anxiety, lack of focus, dry/rough skin, etc.

We invite you into a friendly, safe, nourishing space to learn to balance these qualities especially for the coming months.

Choose time to rest, nurture, nourish, regenerate and learn about balancing your doshas with experienced practitioners to guide you.

Return feeling refreshed and empowered, ready to take on the late fall and winter season.

A healing weekend for you and the land. For the landscape is beautiful, but sometimes in the shadows of the trees there lies a past of broken dreams, scars beneath the surface covered by layers of dead leaves and moss. Shed those layers, reveal the pain, accept it - as your sisters accept all of you! And encourage and empower you towards your healing.
Grow relationships, sisterhood bonds, connections that last for a lifetime, if not more!

As we heal, as does the land!

The RēMind, No. 010: _

Rē newsletter / October Retreat / Cork's Future City Food Hub / Perspectives on a Global Green New Deal / Canada Invests in Indigenous-led Conservation and Stewardship / Regenerative Communities

Rē: The Regenerative School

In this week’s newsletter, we explore some exciting global ideas, announcements and projects.

Irish urban landscape architects reimagine a multi-story car park into an innovative food production hub to promote urban food access and resilience. International thought leaders explore what could happen if the promises of a “Green New Deal” were global? Canada pledges $340 million to support Indigenous stewardship programs. Regenerative Communities builds community-based digital incubation systems to promote meaningful transformation of communities.

These initiatives, funds, designs and stories provide inspiration and learning lessons to us all, regardless of the scale at which we work at. Sometimes growing community entails greening existing infrastructure or exploring new contexts, other times we must focus on our own internal growth and nourishment.

Is this your first year with a summer garden?

Maybe you have mastered it for years but want to step it up?!

Creating a natural rain catch not only saves you money but it is also aids in water conservation!

Don't waste your money on buying a rain barrel..they only hold 50 or 60 gallons of water. In heavy rain, a 1-inch shower can catch around 900 gallons of water flowing off a roof!!

Using your downspouts:

1. Get large plastic trash cans
2. Install a bulkhead fitting and manifold near the bottom of the trash can.
3.Cut a hole in the lid and install the can under a downspout.
4. Install perforated hoses from the trashcan and spread them throughout your garden!

No need to drag watering cans through your garden any longer!!!

Intern Bryn’s final project is a great success!

Diverting spent coffee grounds from the local coffee shop away from the landfill and using them as medium for growing edible mushrooms. Awesome!

The new RēMind newsletter is here!

https://regenerativeschool.substack.com/p/the-remind-no-008-innovations-in

In this week’s newsletter, we’re taking a look at a few of the many innovations emerging around solar energy:

Regenerative Energy is merging regenerative agriculture and renewable energy. Vattenfall is aiming to eliminate fossil fuels from our society in one generation by creating an integrated ‘agrisolar’ sector. The Cowessess First Nations of Canada have switched on their own solar project that will provide sustainable financing for community development. Pittsburgh International Airport has set up the first airport microgrid to provide a clean energy source. Solar Windows is working to develop a revolutionary paint application that could convert many existing buildings into energy generators.
