One of the most dangerous pet toxins we see every summer is blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). The most challenging part about this toxin is that it’s not always easy to spot toxic vs. non-toxic algae in water sources. It’s safest to keep your dog on a leash as you examine the water & if you spot any questionable discoloration, both you & your dog should stay away – don’t take any risks! Instead, promptly report the concern to the city or county so the water can be properly tested & others in the community can be warned! Please be aware that just because it is after 6pm or the sun isn't out does not mean the temperature is ok for your pups feet! Please be mindful of your pups care!
