In a world where social media highlights are everywhere, it’s easy to fall into the habit of comparing ourselves to others. But those comparisons often leave us feeling stuck, discouraged, and disconnected from our own journey and values.

If you're working on cultivating focus, confidence, or a healthier mindset at work or in life, this could be a helpful read.

We tend to use others as a measuring stick. Though this practice is common, it's a recipe for unhappiness.

Anxiety thoughts: The Struggle Switch

Label the anxious thought.
Let go of the urge to control it.
Accept and observe the thought and accompanying feelings.
Practice Mindfulness of the present moment.
Proceed in the direction of your values.

Mindfulness practices further support this approach. For instance, the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique anchors you in the present by engaging your senses:

Identify five things you can see.
Notice four things you can feel.
Listen for three things you can hear.
Recognize two things you can smell.
Acknowledge one thing you can taste

Life is a journey filled with twists, turns, and unexpected detours. Just like any long trip, it requires patience, resilience, and an openness to change. Some days may feel like smooth sailing, while others challenge you with obstacles that slow you down. But patience allows you to embrace the process rather than rush to the destination. It teaches you to trust in your own growth, to find meaning in every step, and to understand that even delays and setbacks have a purpose. The beauty of life is not just in reaching your goals but in experiencing everything along the way.

We don’t question why plants take time to grow, so why do we get frustrated when OUR growth takes longer than we thought? 🌿

Growth, learning, and healing all take time. Show yourself kindness, and forgive yourself if things don’t go as planned.

Our Story

I provide psychological services to individuals, couples, and families with a variety of clinical and developmental concerns. I see therapy as a journey and dynamic process shared by the therapist and the client. I embrace a strengths-based perspective involving a holistic assessment of my client within her/his cultural context. I begin the therapeutic process by facilitating my client telling her/his experiences and stories and the problem affecting her/his life. My goal for therapy is to help and empower my client to use her/his strengths to find new ways of coping with life's challenges.

I am skillful in working with preteens, adolescents, adults, and seniors experiencing difficulty in coping with life transitions, relationship issues, and self-identity development. I am experienced in treating anxiety, depression, grief/ loss, PTSD, domestic violence, and family of origin issues. I also provide clinical supervision for LPAs and LPCAs.

Thank you for reading my profile. It will be my privilege to have the opportunity to meet and walk with you in your life journey. Please feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment.
