IBCLC Day is when I really reflect on the place I've landed in my life. It doesn't even feel right to describe it as "the career path I chose". What I do is more than a job- helping families reach their feeding goals (no matter the goal!) is my passion. I learn something new every day and am forever grateful to all my clients who have trusted me to help them in a small part of their parenting journey.

It’s only once a year, and today is it-🌟 March 2, 2022 is IBCLC day 🌟 There are only 33,492 IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) worldwide (as of 2021) 🌎 and those of us who are in private practice rely on referrals to keep our businesses chugging along. COVID has drastically affected most of our businesses when supporting new families and helping to feed babies is more important than ever before.⁣

Dr. Kristin makes such a difference for babies!

Do any of these sound like your little one? We may be able to help.

Tension in the body can show in a variety of ways, but we typically see improvements in all of these symptoms after just a few visits.

DM us any questions or visit the link in our bio to schedule their first visit!

Don’t assume you will be the unicorn family who doesn’t need to feed the baby at night to maintain milk supply and baby’s growth curve. Over and over this last year we saw these programs jeopardize nursing relationships that families had worked hard to achieve. After the first two weeks of life, if your baby hasn’t woken up by 6 hours, I recommend you wake them up or do a dream feed. Your baby might need more feeds than even that (that’s normal!!!)

There are so many different people ready and willing to help you with feeding your baby! Many are well trained, experienced and excellent supporters. However, this isn't always the case. If the person supporting you:

- doesn't watch a feed

- dismisses your concerns

- says the latch looks great (so you shouldn't be in pain)

- Comments on tongue or oral function without putting their fingers in baby's mouth (Or they carry out an oral assessment without appropriate training)

- Doesn't refer you to someone or somewhere else when they reach the limit of their capabilites

Then you might want to consider seeking different support.

Thank you especially to every single client that has hired me for the past year.

This time last year things were still normal...I've been so lucky to keep running my business during a pandemic.

Why do we have Black Breastfeeding Week?

Here’s why:

Black Breastfeeding Week was created because of the long-standing racial disparities seen in breastfeeding rates. CDC data shows that 75% of white women versus 58.9% of black women have ever breastfed.

The B*W website states, β€œThe fact that racial disparity in initiation and even bigger one for duration has lingered for so long is reason enough to take 7 days to focus on the issue.”

Visit our website for a breakdown of the top 5 reasons why we need B*W:

This week, we will be sharing our support for *W20 on all our social media channels! Follow us for updates!
