Keratoconus is a condition that affects the cornea, causing it to bulge outwards and distort one’s vision. It usually develops gradually, starting in the teenage years or early adulthood. While glasses or contacts may help reduce the symptoms of keratoconus in its early stages, more advanced cases may require surgery, such as corneal transplant or collagen crosslinking.

You may be suffering from a corneal abrasion if you feel like you have sand or grit in your eyes, notice tearing and redness, become sensitive to light, or have pain when you open or close your eyes. Typically, corneal abrasions heal themself within a couple of days, but if you are still experiencing pain after that, we recommend getting it checked by a doctor!

Flashes and floaters are the results of age-related changes to the vitreous, the thick gel firmly attached to the retina. The vitreous becomes thinner and more watery and pulls away from the retina. When this occurs, visual disturbances in the form of flashes of light or floaters (specks or strands across the field of vision) are present.
