Sometimes it looks like play.
Sometimes it looks like movement.
Sometimes it looks like laughing on the floor over pretend food 😂

But underneath all of it, communication skills are growing every day. 💛

If you’ve been feeling like you should be doing more to help your child with their vocab, pronunciation, flow, clarity….

The best thing you can do is just join them when they’re playing and practice what they need to work on.

At Lemon Tree, we love when parents can join in sessions or debrief afterwards because ultimately, bringing our practice into your home is why we see so much success and progress with our clients!!

There’s no gatekeeping here. We work together as a team. And this is where language grows 🍋🫶🏻

Awareness is just the beginning.
Understanding, connection, and support are what truly make a difference.

We’re so grateful for the time we’ve had with our Lemon Tree apprentice, Jimi 💛🍋

Over the past semester, she’s brought such a kind, thoughtful presence into our space and our team (and families!) have truly loved having her here!!

We’re so proud of all the hard work she’s put in and can’t wait to see what’s ahead for her.

You’ll still see Jimi around with us from time to time this summer before her next adventure begins ✨

Joining your kiddo in play doesn’t have to be complicated to build strong language skills. 💛

Here are a few quick, low-prep games you can weave into your day to build vocabulary and connection:

🍋 I-Spy (descriptive version) — “I spy something you wear when it rains…”
🍋 Categories — “Name 5 animals that live in the ocean”
🍋 Would You Rather — encourages reasoning + expressive language
🍋 Synonym swap — “What’s another word for big?”
🍋 Guess the word — describe it without saying it (“You use it to tell time…”)
🍋 Finish the sentence — “If I had a superpower, I would…”

These kinds of games build vocabulary, flexible thinking, and confidence… all through conversation.

No worksheets. No pressure. Just small moments that add up when you’re looking to fill time… on the way home, in line at drive-thru, or even during bath time!!

If you’ve been looking for simple ways to support your child’s communication as they grow, this is a great place to start.

A lot of parents sit in the “wait and see” phase longer than they need to.

Sometimes that works. Sometimes it just delays support.

If your child:

* isn’t using many words by 2
* gets upset when they can’t communicate
* or is hard to understand for their age

You may find it helpful to get a speech-language evaluation. And that’s what we’re here for.

Early support doesn’t label a child. It simply gives them tools to communicate more easily and confidently.

If you’re unsure, trust your gut, mama. That’s usually where clarity starts. 💛
