From being with Maharaj-ji, I came to appreciate that love, real love, is what we’re looking for, and those experiences on acid and pe**te and P*P and all the other chemicals, like ecstasy, all those experiences were fun, but they’re not love. And when I finally tasted real love in Maharaj-ji’s presence, I no longer craved those experiences. And that love is with us all the time. It’s like the air we breathe. There’s nowhere you can go where it isn’t, but you need to remember how to look for it, how to pay attention to it.

‘Do not dilute the quality of your yoga to win and keep students. Let them come and go freely and do not oversell with false claims or the emotive suggestion that any person “needs” yoga or anything at all. It is far more satisfying to teach a few sincere friends. The intimacy in teaching is a great pleasure, far more enjoyable than generating money! It is better to go deep with a small number of good people than produce and sell a bland, standardized product that attempts to please many. It is the early days of yoga in the West and we are moving on from the misinformation that dominated yoga until recently. You may find that there is a big response as the world realizes what is actually on offer in yoga. To truly care and teach in the traditional way, which helps an individual negotiate their peace, is the best thing you can do in this suffering world.’
