💜🌿🌑
The new moon energy on April 17 charged my creative juices and the wild violets growing in my yard inspired me to make a tincture. Why? No clue. I've never made a tincture. No worries! Act now, think later I always say♒️
The whole process made me feel grounded and peaceful. Plus I had an awesome new moon playlist to keep my vibe high.
Not only are violets plentiful in my yard, they also possess wonderful healing properties: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, lymphatic support, high in vitamins C and A, and cooling and soothing to the skin.
Step 1: Carefully pick blooms & leaves
Step 2: Rinse and dry
Step 3: Coarsely chop
Step 4: Fill a mason jar 3/4 full
Step 5: Pour 100 proof unflavored alcohol over plant material up to 1 inch from top. I used vodka. Rule of thumb is a 3:1 ratio of herb to liquid
Step 6. Place parchment paper between jar and lid to prevent corrosion and seal it tightly
Step 7: Lightly shake the jar to ensure the plant material is covered
Step 8. Store the jar in a dark cool space (your pantry shelf is good) for 4-6 weeks. Remember to shake the jar every 2-3 days during extraction period
How to use the tincture:
After 4-6 weeks, strain the plant material over cheesecloth removing any solids. Gently squeeze out excess water. Pour into amber bottles. The tincture will last up to 2 years.
I'm so excited to see how my moon madness experiment turns out! Many thanks to the guidance I followed from itsmysustainablelife.com 💜🌿
