Cascade DAFO's braces are made for mobility, comfort, and durability. We know how active some of our patients love to be, so to help with toe-off and material longevity, our outer shell lengths change based on inner liner material. For stiffer inners, we trim the outer shells distal to the metatarsal heads for ease of toe-off and flexibility. We protect softer liners with full-length shells to reduce unnecessary wear and tear.

While we are closing out these last few weeks of the year, Cascade DAFO would like our customers to know that we are still on track for our end-of-year goal. Rush orders received after November 8th will not be given priority over standard orders received before November 8th. They will still receive the usual priority over standard orders received after November 8th.

Cascade DAFO will be closed for the holidays from December 23rd – 27th so that our team can spend time with their families and friends.

We’d like to let you know about an upcoming change to our phone hours.

Starting Friday, November 15th, and continuing on every Friday until the end of this year, Cascade DAFO will be turning off our phones at 12:00 noon PST. Our phone hours for the rest of 2024 will be 7AM – 2:30 PM PST Monday – Thursday, and 7AM – 12:00 NOON PST Friday.

We are doing this to focus on our production through the end of the year. Email communications will remain open and we will be receiving voicemails while our phones are closed for this extra time, ensuring there is no delay in communication.

The end of the year is fast approaching!

Our end of the year deadline is Friday, November 8th. Please have your orders in by that time if you'd like your braces completed before the end of the year! For time-sensitive orders, consider upgrading to a RUSH.

We're hard at work here at Cascade DAFO, but we're also taking time for our families and friends this holiday season. Please note that we will be closed this November 28th - 29th, and December 23rd - 27th.

Did you know Cascade DAFO offers two different stop blocks for our articulated braces? Our Diamond block and our Bumper block are the two options to consider when planning out an articulated brace for your patient. But what’s the difference between these two blocks, and how do you know which to choose?

The Diamond block is our standard option and will be used unless otherwise requested. It is a smaller, lower-profile block that adds minimal bulk to the brace. It is strong enough to block plantarflexion during standard daily activities and is an appropriate choice for most patients.

Our Bumper block is a more heavy-duty stop block. It’s larger and adds more bulk and reinforcement. It’s better suited for more active patients or patients with a history of overpowering their articulated braces. The Bumper block is also used alongside the Becker Motion Limiter adjustable PF stop when the Becker Motion is requested.

Cascade DAFO’s range of braces is our answer to the full spectrum of patient needs. Everything from foot alignment and control to encouraging ankle range of motion and even combating hyperextension can be covered with our brace selections! But we know that, despite these options, some patients may still benefit from additional security, control, and comfort. That’s why Cascade DAFO also offers plenty of optimizations to help give those added details to any of our braces so that you can ensure the best fit and function for your patient.

Take our Super Heel Seating strap, for example! This lesser-known but very popular optimization is used to help combat heel rise and offer plantarflexion block for toe-walkers.

The Super Heel Seating strap is a variation of our regular instep strap. Whereas our standard instep already offers snugness and security, the Super Heel Seating strap is slotted through the frame of the brace on both the medial and lateral sides, allowing it to sit against the foot directly instead of over the bulk of the brace. This more intimate fit ensures that the patient’s heel remains settled into the heel of the brace, avoiding the risk of it rising and leaving a gap.

The Super Heel Seating strap can be requested on most of our braces, available for both one-piece braces and on our brace styles with inner liners. On braces with softer inner liners, such as our Softy foam liners and our flexible OP Flex liners, the Super Heel Seating strap is slotted through the sturdy outer frame only. For our brace styles with more supportive inner liners, such as our DAFO Turbo, the Super Heel Seating strap is slotted through both the outer frame and inner liner to provide snug contact.
