This Black History Month, we honor the Black pioneers in psychology whose work laid the foundation for compassionate, equitable behavioral health care. STL Real Talk

A series developed by StepOne Service to provide updates to our community members regarding emerging initiatives and challenges within the Greater St. Louis area.

We continue this series with a post to raise awareness about commercial facade improvement grants being an opportunity to strengthen our recovery infrastructure. Through this program, property owners and tenants can apply for forgivable loans ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 to improve their building facades, contributing to a vibrant, welcoming streetscape that attracts customers and investment, pouring more opportunities for growth in our community. Our environment is a HUGE factor in recovery from SUD.

Thoughtful facade investments can:

1. Improve safety through lighting and visibility

2. Reduce stigma by making services look intentional and permanent

3. Help support services integrate into neighborhoods without displacement

We’re here to help you overcome barriers to progressing into a lifestyle of recovery.

We begin this series with an urgent update: Carfentanil has re-emerged in the local illicit drug supply, increasing the risk of overdose and reinforcing the need for access to care.
