Busy day in clinic today. All three va**nal hysterectomy with extensive repairs are doing well post op. We had worship tonight with the missionaries here at Adonai. We ran into town and tried not to hit a cow. I was able to make my cookies that I brought all the ingredients for with me. We have two cases in the morning including our patient with the severe anemia who is getting some blood before. All in all a blessed day.

Had another good clinic day. We didn’t book any more surgeries but saw a lot of Gyn consult patients and did lots of ultrasounds. It was a hot day today but the evening cooled off. We went to another small town nearby and had dovlados for dinner that were awesome.

Tomorrow morning starts a big surgery day with 3 cases to do. Pray for Heidi and I and the OR team. Pray for the patients.

First clinic day down!! Saw 9 patients. Scheduled six surgeries.

Here’s some fun stats though:

* one lady was 75. She’s had 11 kids. 5 of them are living currently 🥺

* two ladies weigh under 85 pounds and one clocked in at 95!

* one lady has had a symptomatic uterine prolapse for 26 YEARS

* one lady has a hemoglobin of 4.7! (Normal is >12 and we usually see closer to 14 here because of the altitude… 🥴). Please pray for this one! She NEEDS surgery and will need blood first/during/after but went home to ask her husband about it… 🥴

Had a nice afternoon nap and a trip into town for some things. Our house lady brought us some fresh fruit and veggies!! Ended the evening with street tacos and a visit with friends. All in all a great first day!!

It’s Guatemala week!!! On the plane now from Chicago to Guatemala City. I will meet up with the other OB Gyn Dr Heidi at the airport and our missionary friend who will fly us in a tiny plane to Canilla!!

Had an awesome first day at clinic!! We have surgeries scheduled and will see more patients tomorrow. It’s been hard to adjust to the slower pace but I’m working on it!!

Tomorrow I’m going on an adventure! I’m headed to Guatemala with another OB/Gyn to see patients and do surgeries. We have no idea what will be waiting for us but God has a plan! He opened door after door for this trip to happen last minute without any hiccups. I’m excited to use my skills for His purpose. Pray for us that we have safe travel and are able to be His hands. Pray for Adam and the kids while I’m gone that they have a smooth week. Thanks for everyone who is helping them out while I’m gone. I will post updates on my adventure!!

I have been at a conference all week for the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH). I am so excited to bring all my knowledge back home.

I can’t tell you how shocked some patients are at their annual when I ask about their s*x life. Many say they have never been asked about it before. My response is always “I am a gynecologist aka va**na doctor. What are you using your va**na for??”

So many have pain or decreased libido or other issues. Why are we not talking about it?? Why are doctors not helping?? Please come see me if you have any issues with s*x.
