September is Falls Prevention Awareness Month! Each year, more than one in four Americans aged 65 and older experiences a fall. Yet fewer than half report it to their doctor. Falling once doubles the risk of falling again.

These incidents result in about 3 million emergency department visits and 1 million hospitalizations annually. Falls are also the leading cause of hip fractures and contribute significantly to traumatic brain injuries among older adults.

Our Brian Center of Fincastle residents had a wonderful time visiting Breezy Rock Stables at Ardmore! 🐴 A big thank you to the amazing trainers for welcoming us so warmly, sharing their incredible hospitality, and showing off some impressive riding skills—the residents especially loved watching the big jumps!

One of the highlights of the day was meeting and petting Sweetie, who stole everyone’s hearts. The food was delicious, the views were beautiful, and the memories will last a lifetime. 💙🤍

Amanda has been awarded the prestigious Regirer Nursing Scholarship from the Commonwealth Long Term Care Foundation. With this scholarship — and additional support from Kissito Healthcare — Amanda is pursuing her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
