I met Bostin Loyd’s mother, Marie, at the gym the other day. I had not idea who she was but I stuck up a conversation with her because she’s 65 and looks at least 10 years younger and is built like a brick s**t house.

I find out her son was Bostin Loyd and that’s she recently made a documentary on steroid use to help educate body builders of the dangers. Sadly her son passed away at 29 but Marie utilizing her son’s story for the benefit of others.

F@ck It Effect!

Have you ever just thrown your hands in the air and said "fu@k it" because you're so tired of trying to incorporate changes to your diet or sleep pattern, or you keep downing more and more caffeine to "help" increase your energy or improve brain fog????

I have....mulitple times! I had been so frustrated (yes, even in tears) trying to figure out how to feel better about myself while going through all of these hormonal changes. I tried changing EVERYTHING at once, determined that by shear willpower I can do this.

See, most women who want to improve their menopause symptoms make the mistake of trying to do too much at once:

No more candy. No more carbs. No more coffee. Join a Crossfit class 6 times a week…and absolutely forget about that glass of wine you enjoy now and then.

Or they focus on all the negative things:

I hate myself. I can't think. I can't lose weight. Sex...forget it. I can't do anything about menopause, I just have to suffer.

But just a few weeks in, they’re exhausted from restricting and forcing themselves to do things they don’t enjoy…the sweat continues to roll down their backs (literally), their mental focus is.....what was I saying??? And the self loathing is worse than ever.

That’s when the ”fu@k it" effect kicks in and they’ll end up binging on everything they’ve been avoiding. Then they blame menopause for everything that's wrong or out of control. Self doubt is at an all time high and self confidence is at an all time low.

Why? Because our hormones are out of whack and moderation isn't exciting or sexy. We go overboard instead of finding a middle ground. We fall prey to automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) in our head. We think we just have to suffer because that's the way the hormones roll.

I help clients find peace and happiness in menopause by focusing on one step at a time....physically, spiritually, and mentally! It's not an all or nothing race.

Do you know any women who fit this description?

✅ Women who think they are "losing" their minds because they can't remember what they were just about to say, lose their train of thought, or can't concentrate during a meeting or conversation.

Breakfast anyone!!!

You're limited on time once again because you didn't sleep well and decided to hit snooze a couple of times (I was so guilty of this). You just want something quick and easy for breakfast before you rush out the door.

You look in the fridge and think....not eggs again! Toast won't cut it cuz you're feeling really hungry and you just want something more fulfilling and delicious.

Question for you.....

The first time I had an anxiety attack, it caught me off guard because I am definately not one who stresses or worries much. I didn’t think it was a big deal. But then, I had a few more anxiety moments.....I felt extremely paranoid, couldn't hardly sit still, and felt like I was going to crawl out of my skin.

My mind was racing.....I thought my daughter was on the verge of being kidnapped, I thought there was a bomb in the food court at the mall (random back pack being left unattended), it was taking wayyy too long to get home. I wanted to make my husband pull over so I could drive faster to get there. I was so freakin uncomfortable in my own skin & I didn't know what to do.

Have you ever experienced anxiety or panic attack ?

As I’ve gone through menopause, I’ve learned so much about the symptoms that we go through on a daily bases during this stage of life......anxiety (out of nowhere), brain fog, loss of energy, and of course weight gain.

So I’d love to know…

The US spends the most money on healthcare yet we are in worst health than any other country in the world.

WHY??? Because we are NOT getting to the root cause of our health issues.

I just listened to one of the best podcasts...The Truth About Disease on The Model Health Show with Shawn Stevenson. The interview with a Stanford doctor does an excellent job of educating on why we have a broken healthcare system and what we can do to help heal ourselves. It's not as complicated as conventual medicine would have you believe.

The podcast is a long one...but soooo worth listening too throughout parts of your day. Here is the link if you care to listen and learn more. Being healthy doesn't have to be hard or difficult.

I wanted to share part of my recent blood results below to help educate anyone who cares regarding cholesterol results. As you can see my levels are high but they always have been. I eat pretty healthy for the most part and workout, always have. Am I concerned about my "high" cholesterol, nope.....is my functional doctor concerned, nope!

If you look at the HDL, triglycerides, and VLDL they are ALL within normal range. HDL is the highest but it's also the good cholesterol. If fact we need cholesterol to maintain hormones and cell health, we couldn't function without cholesterol. My doctor shared with me that his parents who are in their 90s have high cholesterol and the doctors still trying to put them on medication. Why? They are in their 90s and obviously doing something right.

My point here is if you are told you have high cholesterol, dig a little deeper folks. Ask questions, get curious. Are the cholesterol components in a healthy range? Has there been a recent change in your levels or is this where your levels naturally are? Don't be so quick to take the total cholesterol number at face value, look at all the factors......HDL, triglycerides, LDL, eating habits, exercise, and your blood work history.

Cholesterol levels shouldn't be looked at through the lens of a range in that if you're over 200 you should start taking medication. Really dig into your numbers and get curious. I love getting my blood work done, it teaches me about my health and my patterns....yes I'm a numbers geek lol. The more inform I have the easier and quicker it will be to correct.
