Sensuality

Treatment for s*xual issues often involves enhancing the sensual side of the experience. Focusing on sensual experience is not just important during intimate time with our Beloved, it is relevant to all of our life experiences. Sensuality, according to my online dictionary, is “the condition of being pleasing or fulfilling to the senses.”

We often do not pay attention to the sensual experiences in life. For example, my favorite candy is Dietsch’s dark chocolate pretzels. I often pop one in my mouth and go on with what I’m doing. The experience is pleasurable, but not as pleasurable as it could be if I would stop what I’m doing and really focus on what is happening in my mouth. I can allow myself to focus on the sweetness and saltiness, the crunchy and smooth textures, the pairing of chocolate and pretzel flavors, the smell that is so delightful.

There are so many delightful sensual experiences that surround us each day. To experience them more fully we need to slow down.
