Happy Father’s Day! This day is even more significant to me this year. As many of my clients know, my father was diagnosed with cancer last fall, at the end of September. The months that followed were the most difficult my family has been through and filled with lots of uncertainty. You don’t realize how awful cancer truly is until you deal with it firsthand. The absolute mess the process, getting answers, treatments, and medical providers are for both the patient and their caregivers or family. We luckily ended up being referred to The James in Columbus. He finished his radiation in March and his April scans showed his tumor is now inactive. He will have his three month scan and we will know more then. Our family is relieved.
I love my father and the man he has been for me, my family, and all of the people he has impacted in his life. My dad owned a restaurant, The Woodland, here in downtown Findlay. It means so much to me to be a second generation downtown business owner with my office in the building right across the street from his first location. He has gifted me my love for the outdoors and animals, my sense of humor, the value of hard work, and cooking skills. This Father’s Day, I am blessed. I wish everyone a happy Father’s Day and my heart goes out to all of those who are navigating difficult times or who are dealing with the loss of their dad today. Time moves so fast and slips through our fingers. We never know how long we have with our loved ones, so celebrate them as much as you can while they are here and honor them when they are no longer with us. ❤️
