William D. Huff

William Dean Huff, 76, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

He was born in Findlay to Carl and Martha (Vorhies) Huff on July 4, 1949.

William graduated from Findlay High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1969. He served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. William worked at Ball Metal in Findlay and retired in 2008. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing a good game of cards.

He is survived by his loving wife Pamela of 51 years; his son, Anthony (Shelly) Huff; sisters, Elaine Webster, Nancy Potter, and Barbara Huff; and his brother, Ronald Huff; niece, Heidi Franklin; and nephew, Tim Beck, plus many others.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mathew; and brother, Dana Huff.

A celebration of William’s life will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Salem New Beginnings Church, 4699 County Road 236, Findlay 419-423-9751. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to serve William’s family.

David Lee Erb, 86, of Arlington, passed away at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Friday, December 19, 2025.

Dave was born in Wapakoneta, to Theodore and Helena (Rickert) Erb on October 28, 1939. He graduated from Wapakoneta High School. In 1970, Dave married Sharon Webb, and she survives.

In 1963, Dave joined the Navy and proudly served his country for four years. He worked at Ball Metal Corporation for 27 years and was a member of Church of the Nazarene. Dave enjoyed fishing and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, Dave is survived by his sons, Josh Erb and Jesse Erb; grandchild, Autumn Erb; and 15 siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). A funeral service will follow at noon, with interment in Houcktown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Dave’s name may be given to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Ln., Findlay, OH 45840.

Jason Lee Sloat, 54, of Alvada, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

He was born in Bluffton, to Cynthia Sloat on September 4, 1971. He graduated from Lakota High School. On April 1, 1993, Jason married Rosabelle Carter, and she survives. He worked as an automotive core buyer. Jason loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast.

In addition to his wife, Jason is survived by his children, Jason Lee (Chantelle) Sloat Jr., Jestin Levi (Kori) Sloat Sr., Diane Peters, and Journee Leana Sloat; grandchildren, Wyatt, Jestin, Henry, Jordyn, and Harmony; siblings, Terri (Steve) Fruth, Carl (Gina) Meckes, Holly (Rick) Kinder, Heather (Jeremy) Naftzger, and Patrick Fasig; nephew, Mitchell White; stepdad, Timothy Fasig.

Jason was preceded in death by his gram and dad, Janet and Irvin Sloat; mother, Cynthia Fasig; siblings, Regina Thompson, Daniel Sloat, Irvin “Turtle” Sloat Jr., Kelly Fabo, and Richard Sloat.

Friends and family may visit from 12-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with a funeral service immediately following at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Interment will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery.

Ronald G. Heck, 83, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 18, 2025

He was born in Findlay on January 10, 1942, the son of the late Wendell M. and Verda P. (Rader) Heck. Ronald grew up on a farm by the Blanchard River in Amanda Township, Hancock County, Ohio, and was a 1959 graduate of Vanlue High School. He graduated from Bowling Green State University and later earned his Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University College of Law.

Ronald married his loving companion, Rosemary E. Bishop on June 1, 1962. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2022.

Surviving are his two children, Jason K. (Lyndsay) Heck of Findlay, and daughter, Alexandra K. (Troy) Zmuda of Toledo; blessed with three grandchildren, Piper A. Stewart, Jack E. Zmuda, and Summer Casey Raedel Zmuda; and his niece, Julie Welstead, and Dr. Kent Heck.

In addition to his loving wife, Rosemary, and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, E. Duane Heck in 2013.

Throughout Ronald’s life, he loved being a pilot, a trial attorney, and traveling. As a criminal defense lawyer, he was honored to assist the unfortunate and those who found themselves in difficulty with the law. He also served as judge of the Hardin County Liberty-Marion District Court, taught business law at Defiance College and visited all 50 states, most Canadian provinces and Mexico.

In his later years, he enjoyed spending time on his screened-in porch, where he would read, enjoy a cigar, drink coffee, and observe deer and other wildlife in the area behind his home.

John Frederick Gaberdiel, 86, of Findlay, left this world on December 14, 2025.

He was born August 23, 1939, in Delphos, Ohio, to Joh and Rose(Mueller) Gaberdiel. John was raised in Wapakoneta, Ohio and spent many years as a sales manager at Moulton Electric, but currently resides in Findlay, Ohio.

John was a Navey veteran, golf enthusiast and a car fanatic who loved driving his corvette. John also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He was fond of tinkering outdoors and traveling west to see family as well.

John is survived by his daughter, Gina Gaberdiel; son, Jon (Sarah) Gaberdiel; grandsons, Noah, Jasper, Emery Gaberdiel; sisters, Barb (Howard) House, and Janis (Bill) Green; brother, David (Ann) Gaberdiel, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Rose (Mueller) Gaberdiel, and brother, Terry (Karen) Gaberdiel.

John was loved and will be missed by many.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Bridge Hospice team at Blanchard Valley Hospital for their compassionate care.

May John’s eternal journey be filled with love and grace.

Gilbert J. Green

Gilbert John Green, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with both of his daughters by his side.

He was originally from the Milwaukee–Janesville, Wisconsin area. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army as a young adult. He later married the love of his life, Wanda Fay, and together they raised two devoted daughters.

Gilbert was a man of curiosity and intelligence, teaching himself countless skills and cultivating a deep love of history and reading. In his younger years, he enjoyed summers spent living aboard his sailboat on Lake Erie. Known affectionately as Papa Gil, he delighted in simple pleasures—walking to the donut shop, surprising his grandchildren with boxes of treats, and having tea parties with them when they were small.

After retirement, Gilbert enjoyed living independently in Bryan, Ohio, but his happiest moments were always with family. His bright blue eyes and humor will be missed and remembered forever.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette (Edmonds) Green and John Green; brothers Tom Green and Jerry Green; and sisters Cynthia Green and Mary Ellen Green.

He is survived by his former wife, Wanda Fay Green (Austin); daughters, Gina Green and Georgia (John) Bindas; and grandchildren, Alexis, Daisy, John, and Joseph Bindas.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Birchaven Village, Brookdale Assisted Living, and Bridge Home Health and Hospice in Findlay—especially Dr. Jacobus, Jackie, Ian, and Paige—for their compassionate care.

Phyllis A. (Clark) Miller

On December 7, 2025, Phyllis Ann Miller, 83, was called home to be with the Lord. She lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible.

Phyllis was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God’s plan.

Born to a loving family, she grew up surrounded by support and encouragement. Her quest to serve God led her to Valparaiso University, followed by Winebrenner Theological Seminary where she achieved her Master of Divinity degree. Phyllis has put her knowledge to work as a Minister, a Hospital Chaplain, and a Substance Abuse Counselor. Whether through volunteer work, mentorship, or simply lending a listening ear, she made a difference in the lives of those around her. Her passion and commitment were evident in every endeavor she undertook.

Phyllis was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert A Clark Sr., and Bernice (Muzzey) Clark; siblings, Barbara Mann (David), and Robert A Clark Jr., husband Thomas E Miller; daughter in law, Deanna (Yangouyian) Miller, and her beloved pup, Riley Jo.

Above all, Phyllis was a devoted family member and a loyal friend. She is survived by her children, Julie Bame (Bruce), and Michael Miller, along with 5 grandchildren, Zack Bame (Nicole), Brynelle Rowlands (Nick), Tyler Bame (Abby), Anthony Hinkle (Ashley), and Michael Miller. She was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren, Carter and Chase Bame, and Anthony Yangounian. The love, laughter, and wisdom she shared will remain with us forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to celebrate Phyllis Miller’s remarkable life. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and find comfort in one another during this difficult time. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever guide and inspire us. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

James B. Hale Jr.

James B. Hale Jr., 78, of Findlay, passed away December 5, 2025, at Birchaven.

He was born in Pearisburg, Virginia, to the late James B. Hale Sr. and Ruby A. Prince on May 2, 1947.

James was a retired United States Army veteran with service experience in Vietnam.

James is survived by his sisters, Juanita R. Moyer of Findlay, and Alma R. Fuller of Findlay, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Hill, and Lula Gaudier; and his brother, Bill Hale.

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Marie Nelson, 75, of Findlay, Ohio, who passed away on the morning of Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Born on February 2, 1950, in Wood County, Ohio, Linda was known for her caring attitude, strong work ethic, and her readiness to help any family member in need. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant everything to her, and she found her greatest joy in time spent with her family.

Linda worked at Consolidated Biscuit Company in McComb for six years and later retired from Equity Foods in North Baltimore after 22 years of dedicated service.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Nelson; her children, Eric (Lori) Nelson, Michele Nelson, Brian Nelson, and Kelly (Scott) Jordan; her brothers Ray, Raymond, and Thomas Clark; her sister, Louise Clapp; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leona Clark; her brothers, Darryl and Mike Clark; her sister, Ruthie (Dallas) Glenn; and her daughter, Becca (Gary) Rader.
