Mary L. Dixie

Mary L. Dixie fell asleep in death May 19, 2026, at her residence in Findlay at 91 years young.

She was born April 2, 1935, to the late Wiley & Elizabeth (Lester) Samuel in Tifton Georgia and was an only child.

Mary married Curtis Dixie Jr. on March 3, 1951, and to this union, seven children were born. Mary and Curtis later divorced in 1975, and he proceeds her in death. Also proceeding her in death are sons Niles Eugene, Jeffry Lewis and Phillip Edward Sr, aunts, Alice Lester, and Louise Lester.

She leaves behind two sons: Curtis (Annette), Dixie III of Pickerington, Oh; Doran Dixie of Findlay, two daughters: Rochelle (Kenny) Dixie-Hall of Conyers, Ga; and Elizabeth Carnahan of Findlay, eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.

Mary worked at Allied Automotive for 22 years and at RCA for 6 years. She was an avid reader of mystery books and was always expanding her knowledge and thinking, but her most cherished book was the Bible. Mary dedicated her life to Jehovah by being baptized on March 3, 1986, and she had been a faithful witness to her God until her death for 41 years, 5 of those 41 years she expanded her ministry as a regular pioneer, someone who devotes 90 hours or more in the ministry a month. She never was afraid to share her faith with family, friends and strangers giving encouragement of the hope the Bible has. Up to the very last moment before she could no longer speak, she still wanted to talk to others about the Bible’s hope. She was affectionately known in the congregation as “Mama Dixie.”

Some of the things that she loved were trees, elephants, flowers, good food, cooking, deep conversations, looking at the stars and her friends. She once said that she would have loved to become a marine biologist or a surgical nurse. Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, and he will make your paths straight.”

We want to thank the many friends who came by with an encouraging word or a hug of support. We would also like to thank Bridge Hospice; India, Kristi, Ashley, and Megan for being such a comfort during this time.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9355 OH – 12, Findlay. Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to serve Mary’s family.

Wanda Fay Green

Wanda Fay Green, age 79, left this earth on May 7, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after courageously fighting through a difficult year of illness. She held tightly to her family, her friends, and her faith until the very end.

Wanda retired from Columbus State Community College, where she was loved by many. She welcomed everyone with kindness, never judged, and lived as a true example of Christian love. She was a loyal friend to anyone who needed one, and the most loving, forgiving mother and grandmother. Her daughters and grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she would have done anything for them.

A devoted child of God, Wanda’s faith was her foundation. Today she is rejoicing in Heaven dancing again on those streets of gold-and reunited with the family and friends who awaited her with open arms.

Wanda found joy in the simple things: spending time with family, shopping, listening to Kenny Rogers, singing karaoke, and dancing. She was truly one of a kind, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi (Kenneth) Pebley; her birth father, Ben Austin; her sister-in-law, Barbara Austin, and her former husband and father of her children, Gilbert Green.

She is survived by her daughters, Gina Green and Georgia Bindas, and her son-in-law John Bindas, whom she loved as her own. She was affectionately known as Noni and will be missed dearly by her precious grandchildren: Daisy, John, Joseph, and Alexis Bindas (Brian), and her babies Sadie and Leo.

Wanda leaves behind countless friends and relatives from her hometown of Rocky Top (Lake City), Tennessee, including her sister Fannie Jane (George) Horton, and her brothers Ben Estes (Karen), B.A. Austin. She also leaves many nieces and nephews across Tennessee, Alabama, and Wisconsin.

In recent years, Wanda made many new friends in Columbus and later in Arlington, Ohio, at The Manor and The Heritage in Findlay. She cherished her many best friends, each of whom will miss her deeply.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at The Heritage, with special recognition to Deisha, Birchaven, and Bridge Hospice for their loving care during the last months of her life.
