Recently, I was accused of not being in this work for the right motive.

And I’ll be honest — that one stung.

Because doula work isn’t a trend for me. It isn’t about recognition. It isn’t about anything surface-level. This is a calling. A surrender. A “yes” I gave to God when He placed a deep burden on my heart for mamas who feel unseen, unheard, or alone.

Through Mama Bear Doula Care, I show up because I believe no woman should have to walk pregnancy, birth, or postpartum without steady, compassionate support. I show up because ministry doesn’t only happen in church buildings — sometimes it happens in hospital rooms, living rooms, and in the quiet hours of the night when a mama just needs someone to say, “You’re doing amazing.”

My motive is simple: to serve well. To love well. To advocate well.

And even when birth doesn’t go as planned, I stay. I support. I help process. I remind mamas that their strength isn’t defined by an outcome.

I don’t answer to opinions. I answer to the One who called me.

🌿 The Stages of Labor
Labor unfolds in three main stages—early labor, active labor, and the pushing/birth stage. Each phase has its own rhythm, purpose, and emotional landscape.

💛 Signs & Symptoms to Look For

• Early labor: mild contractions, back pressure, excitement mixed with nerves
• Active labor: stronger, more regular contractions, increased focus, possible nausea
• Transition: intense waves, shaking, self-doubt (a sign you’re so close)
• Pushing: an urge to bear down, renewed energy, meeting your baby soon
