Everyone Dances was created because in October, 2007, Spirit told me to purchase the domain name. When I asked, "what am I supposed to do with it", I was told that I would be directed when the time was right. The first direction came 18 months later - to build a website - which I did for several years. The website was created to challenge the traditional definition of wh

o can dance. There are many people who think they can't or shouldn't dance because of age, physical or mental challenge, skill-level, experience, or any other reason. A wonderful philosophy that is good not just for dance but in other areas of our lives. The second reason why Everyone Dances was created is 'to create wonderful times when everyone dances' and that is what we're doing now. Currently I'm a Certified Educator/Trainer offering classes and presentations for Ageless Grace which is a fitness program for body & brain health based on the science of neuroplasticity, movement, music and play. It is for almost all abilities and ages. The children's version is called 4EverFit4KIDZ! As a trained dance teacher I also have several dance/movement programs that I've created which I'm teaching or putting the finishing touches on:
Dance w/Kathy: a seated class for mixed abilities
Music/Imagination/Movement (MIM): for multi-generational family workshops

Yes, they’ve done many studies which prove this. I’ve even done my own research - when I use nostalgic music their energy grows, they sing along, laugh, make comments about “way back when” and dance bigger.
And this is every class.

Scientists have found that nostalgic songs trigger stronger urges to dance than songs that are merely familiar.

The study analyzed responses to pop songs released during participants’ teenage years, revealing that emotionally evocative tracks increased both enjoyment and movement.

Songs that brought back memories, like Dynamite and Uptown Funk, sparked more dancing than newer but equally familiar hits.

Notably, some anthems like Firework scored high on familiarity but low on nostalgia, resulting in weaker dance responses.

This distinction suggests that nostalgia carries a unique emotional weight that energizes the motor system.

The study also hints at the therapeutic value of music-based interventions for movement-related disorders.
