In the spirit of Thanks this season, join us for a heartfelt Donation Yoga Class on Sunday, November 23, at 10 a.m. to support the Johnson family, a kind and hardworking family from Black River, Jamaica, who were severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
The Johnsons lost much of their livestock, including two beloved dogs, multiple goats and chickens. Their home and vehicle sustained significant damage, and their crops, which they rely on for income, were destroyed. Black River was one of the hardest-hit areas: power lines remain down, roads are blocked and many residents are still without electricity or running water.
Kelly, Prana Yoga Fishers Instructor, who lived in Jamaica for five years, met the Johnsons during the COVID lockdowns. When movement was restricted, the Johnsons traveled across parishes to buy produce from farmers and sell it locally, helping both farmers and families access fresh food. A deep friendship formed, and despite their own hardships, the Johnsons continue to support their community.
