For COVID-19, the host response is more important. Therefore, it is better to study the difference between those who get infected with symptoms in comparison to those who get infected without symptoms than it is to study the virus itself.

Predicting epidemiology from one population to another has many pitfalls. In places of high population density, larger smoking population, and pollution (such as Wuhan, China), a virus is able to sicken a larger percentage of the population to a greater degree.

Why I Practice Medicine

How did PureHealth Functional Family Medicine start? I looked at health from a different perspective.

Shortly into my practice, I decided that Family Medicine, to me, wasn’t being a jack-of-all-trades but being the master of common disease. Even my medical school colleagues called me a “science geek” as I wanted to able to discuss high blood pressure in the same depth as a cardiologist. But I began finding I was spending more and more time doing things that had nothing to do with biochemistry and anatomy: things employers, insurers, governments and hospitals wanted but didn’t improve how my patients felt.

Those players demanded more and more of my time and attention, and I noticed my patients were having as much trouble trusting the healthcare system as I was. At the same time, the prices for everything went higher and higher.

And then I got sick.
