"Mom, when can I wear contacts?" To answer that question we recommend you consider maturity level, not age.

A child who is only eight years old, but brushes their teeth and washes their hands without prodding, and overall listens well to instructions, can be a good candidate for contact lens wear. Conversely, a pre-teen without good hygiene habits and who requires a lot of prodding might not be a good candidate.
