I’ve been thinking a lot about caregivers lately—the people who quietly hold everything together. Care partners of people living with dementia take on incredibly complex, day-to-day responsibilities: managing medications, coordinating care, watching for changes, and often putting their own needs last. And yet, so much of our healthcare system still isn’t designed with them in mind.

I’m grateful to have been part of a project led by Te-Lien Ku, where we worked alongside local pharmacists and caregivers themselves to rethink how community pharmacies can better support care partners. One thing came through clearly: caregivers need care, too. They need clear information, reliable support, and spaces that feel welcoming—not overwhelming.

If you are a caregiver: what you do matters more than most people realize. You deserve recognition, support, and systems that work with you, not make things harder.

Caring for our neighbors means meeting them where they are. Our goal is to always make you feel comfortable and connected.

When barriers stand between someone and the care they need, I'm so proud that our community steps up. Recently, a new patient reached out for gender-affirming care. This patient did not have family support and was concerned about cost and confidentiality. Our physician met the patient privately to begin care in a safe environment, made possible through donations to our Venmo fund (FFC_CommunityCares).

Every contribution helps us provide confidential, affirming care for those who might otherwise go without. Thank you for making healthcare accessible to everyone.

We want to take a moment to express our deep gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love, encouragement, and support from our community. The messages, visits, and kind words we have received mean more to us than we can adequately express. They reaffirm why we do this work and whom we do it for.

We are also sincerely thankful to Mayor Julia Silvina Arata Fratta and the City of Fitchburg, as well as the Fitchburg, Wisconsin - Police Department, for their steadfast support and swift response in addressing individuals who came to our space with the intent to intimidate and threaten. Their actions helped ensure the safety of our staff, patients, and neighbors, and demonstrated a clear commitment to protecting community members and local healthcare providers.
