3 things I have learned about weight loss and how it can help you.

1️⃣ You need to break that “all or nothing” mentality.

If you don’t you’ll never be able to stick with any plan.

Why?

If you have an off day or even an off week and you figure you may as well throw in the towel because you failed already, how will you ever reach your goals?

2️⃣ You need to eat and probably way more then you think.

Of course the key to weight loss is to be in a calorie deficit but if you’re not eating enough then you may not get the results you’re after.

When you aren’t eating you actually slow your metabolism and your body stores fat and uses muscle stores for energy.

3️⃣ You don’t have to workout for hours or lift 200 pounds.

What works is doing the right type of exercise for the results you’re after and making sure there’s some kind of resistance training in there even bodyweight will get the job done.

Battle of the belly flat!

Ladies, I can say I get it from first hand experience.

I have struggled just like so many to lose the weight around the middle for years, especially after children.

I thought I could just exercise it away or cut back on certain foods and it would disappear. That was not the case at all.

You can even see in some of these pics how my core muscles are there but below that there was a layer of fat.

What changed this? Several things but one thing for sure I’ve realized?

CONSISTENCY!

I have learned that I have to stay consistent with my food choices and consistent with my exercise.

I don’t have to workout for an hour 7 days a week, I don’t have to cut out any foods I love but I do have to stay with it.

So if I have a weekend or a week where I fall off or even a day what works for me is jumping right back to it and not giving up.

So for me learning that what matters most is what you do MOST of the time has been my best takeaway I can share with you.

You have got to realize that we all want to live a little while being healthy, we want to enjoy life while losing weight and that some days of not following your plan to the T is not the end.

Edna Smoot deserves a round of 👏

She worked hard for 4 weeks(28 days) and it paid off.

She quit smoking, stopped drinking soda and started working out during this time.

The best part of this was she ate carbs everyday! Some days were even high carb days!

High carb days means a carb with every meal 🥘, woot woot!

It just shows you don’t have to go keto to lose weight ladies, just find which of the healthy carbs work for you and only have the others as a treat.

The common fight

If you’re trying to exercise more, eat better, and maybe lose weight, then a little self-inspection can be helpful.

You want to understand your motives and desires so you can turn them into fuel to build long-lasting habits.

But I urge against getting too caught up in yourself – in believing that you’re so very different than other people with the same goals and challenges.

Building and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a common fight. Obesity is high in our country. Few people exercise or eat properly. Many struggle with stress, self-esteem and body issues.

I encourage you to realize this partly so you don’t judge yourself too harshly and think you’re, like, the worst person who ever lived.

But I also want to encourage you to find strength in the numbers of the common struggle.

To realize that your problems, challenges and struggles are not unique to you. Because if you insist that they are, you’re setting yourself up for failure.

As human beings, we are all special, unique and wholly our own – yes, absolutely. But as people fighting a common enemy, we all share the same struggle.

Eat carbs = no results

So they say, anyways.

So many ladies over 40 have carb fear.

Yes that’s right, they’re so afraid that if they eat carbs they will not lose weight ever.

This is so not true. Eating the correct carbs and the right amount of them at the best time is what matters.

Going low/no carb can cause higher cholesterol, heart problems, kidney stones, loss of muscle tissue, as well as not being sustainable long term.

When something isn’t sustainable because it is too restricted any results you get will not last.

Instead of cutting carbs just choose low glycemic, complex carbohydrates that your body uses for energy and are not full of sugar.

This will get you amazing results without feeling restricted, hungry and fatigued.

So next time you think about kicking carbs to the curb think again, stock up on the right ones, be sure to eat the right portions, and you’ll be golden.
