Encompass Health Fitchburg held its second DAISY Award ceremony at the end of September, honoring Michael Parrish as the DAISY Award recipient. Congratulations, Michael, and thank you for the compassionate care you provide to our patients.

DAISY Award honorees are nurses nominated by a patient, family member or coworker and selected by a committee for their exceptional care. Honorees are recognized during a special ceremony and receive a certificate in a portfolio, a Healer’s Touch sculpture, an honoree pin, a gift bag, cinnamon rolls to share with their unit and a banner displayed in celebration. They are also registered on the DAISY Foundation website and featured on a personalized spotlight page.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Fitchburg is proud to celebrate our patient Darren’s incredible progress. A spinal cord injury affected his ability to move or even feel his legs. Darren came to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Fitchburg determined to work hard in his recovery. Through perseverance and the support of our team, Darren is now taking steps again — and officially discharging home! 🏡💪

After a lower limb amputation and a long journey of wound healing, Heidi came to our rehabilitation hospital determined to incorporate her prosthetic into daily life. With the support of our rehabilitation team and her own perseverance, Heidi proudly met her goal and walked out of the hospital using her prosthetic.

We wish Heidi the very best in her continued recovery and thank her for trusting us with her care.

It's Respiratory Therapy Week! We’re celebrating our amazing respiratory therapists, Amy and Lilly, who go above and beyond to help our patients breathe easier every day.

Respiratory Care Week, established by the American Association for Respiratory Care in 1982, highlights the importance of respiratory health and honors the professionals who make a difference. At Encompass Health of Fitchburg, our respiratory therapists treat conditions such as sleep apnea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, congestive heart failure and more. They provide essential therapies including CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry and tracheostomy care.
