Jill fell and injured her spinal cord resulting in quadriplegia and significant balance and coordination challenges. During her rehabilitation at Encompass Health Fitchburg, she made strong progress using equipment such as the Barihab table and the Rifton gait trainer, which helped her improve standing, mobility and independence.

With the support of the interdisciplinary team and her own active participation, Jill gained strength, balance and endurance, and her ability to complete self-care tasks improved greatly leading to her discharge!

Amanda came to Encompass Health Fitchburg for recovery and rehabilitation following a below-the-knee amputation. During her prosthetic training, she worked with our therapy team to improve her balance, practice safety skills and reduce her reliance on a walker.

Our CEO and other hospital leaders spread extra holiday cheer today by surprising patients, staff and visitors with a hot chocolate and cookie cart.

After being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome in November 2024 and facing a prolonged hospitalization, Debbie came to Encompass Health Fitchburg in March 2025 to rebuild her strength and improve her mobility.

She worked tirelessly and continued therapy after discharge, making remarkable strides in her recovery. Debbie was even able to return home at the end of May!

Recently, she stopped by to visit her former therapy team and show off her incredible progress. Thank you for coming back to see us, Debbie — we are so proud of your hard work and the progress you’ve achieved!
