Let’s talk about Vitality (not the program, but what it means to me)…
In definition, vitality is the state of being strong and active, of having energy. It’s to have mental or physical vigor.
But to me, vitality is something I found within myself. It was something I always had, but lost.
Something I’ve realized is that as we age, it becomes easier and easier to lose the vitality within ourselves that we once knew by heart as a kid.
We lose that light of joy we had to wake up each morning with curiosity and excitement on what the day ahead of us holds.
As kids, we would’ve done anything to play outside just 10 more minutes when our parents called us in to eat. Now we have to force ourselves to get just 10 minute of sunlight a day.
As kids, we loved making fun creations in the kitchen and pretending we’re little chefs. Now we say we hate cooking and opt for take-out too easily.
When we were kids, we ran, and rode our bikes, and climbed trees, for adventure, and we felt free. Now we run and lift to look better, and feel trapped.
As we get older, we learn that we need to workout to look good, not feel good. We need to eat healthy to look good, not feel good.
There’s so much emphasis put on how we look, and none on how we feel.
And so we start to despise it all. We forget about the things that once gave us life.
We get caught in a never-ending cycle of the things that we think we need to live, but drain us. And wonder why we lost that light of joy to wake up each morning.
And so to me, vitality means re-igniting my inner child. To live the life I once knew, so excited to move, and eat, and connect, and just BE.
With energy, and excitement, and pure love for who I am and the life I live.
