We are loving this post by the UW Whitewater Counseling Ed program, spotlighting our amazing provider Cassi! ❤️

Check out this week's Alumni Spotlight!

Name: Cassi Ott
Education: BS Psychology and minor Family Studies from UW-Eau Claire (graduated 2017)
MS Counselor Education Clinical Mental Health emphasis in Trauma Counseling from UW-Whitewater (graduated 2020)
Current career: LPC at Abegglen Counseling & Consulting, LLC in Madison, WI

What did you like about the program?
I loved that while in the program I was nurtured to grow personally and professionally. Through the program I made lifelong friendships and clinical colleagues that provided and still provide me with support personally and professionally. The Counselor Education program is a lifelong family and support system, even two years post graduating from the program I still feel included and connected to the faculty and my cohort.

What is your target population and why?
I work with individuals throughout the lifespan experiencing interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and self-harm, grief and loss, and terminal illness or life changing diagnoses. I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and individuals with disabilities.

Advice for current students?
Stay curious, for you never know when someone will teach you something new that may change your whole perspective.
