Happy Earth Day 🌎 We celebrated with a themed Gables Night with a lovely earth inspired menu curated by our new Executive Chef, Gary and dinner was followed by a spring/earth themed music hour with Heather Marie. Recycled/up-cycled decor made by Residents & Activities. Thank you to all that attended.

Double Scrabble post this week! It was great to see a couple different games going the other day for National Scrabble Day, because why not?! Folks are welcome to play any time in any of our spaces…the activity room, library, living room or cafe! There are a few Residents with their own games but we do have one on the shelf in the activity room to use, fyi. If you are visiting a friend or family while here, check out our games any time!!

“Everyone cheer! Future RN Angela is near!” A big congrats is in order for our sweet and caring wellness nurse, Angela, as she has been accepted into the RN program that she’ll be starting in the coming months! Angela came to us recently with experience in nursing in cardiology and we feel so lucky to have her here at The Gables. She is a local girl with strong ties to the area and she is very dedicated to her job and to her field. Way to go, Angela...You’ve got this!

Look who’s 102!! Wishing our song singing, dog loving, great conversationalist, corn hole champion, stair climbing, crossword queen, sweetheart, busy bee and friend to all, Priscilla, a wonderful year full of all the things she loves! We love & adore you, Birthday Girl 🥳 As a Kindergarten teacher, she was gifted cards made by students at Priest Street School, as she used to teach there 🥰 and fun fact, the gentleman pictured w/Priscilla is not only a fellow Resident BUT a fellow classmate, our sweet John, who turns 102 this summer 🤩

We had beautiful weather for a new offering called, “Popcorn On The Porch” this afternoon! 🍿We fired up the popcorn machine and had cold soda pop 🥤while we visited outside in the fresh air!! It was a great time and we plan on using our porch more often 🤗

We’ve been holding an “Arm Chair Travel” program in our Theater Room each week and it consists of a half hour informative show from places like Italy for The Olympics, New Orleans for Mardi Gras, China for Chinese New year and Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day, Israel for Passover, not to mention a couple tropical places to beat the last of the winter blahs. Today, we traveled to Hawaii to learn a bit about the history, the people, the landscape/geography & fun facts. It’s wonderful to be able to “travel” to these fun locations from the comfort of home. It’s always nice to hear from our Residents if they’ve been to the places that are featured. We may start a “50 States” offering in the near future to learn a bit more of each state and it’ll be fun to see who has traveled where within the “States”!

This month’s Tea Party was Mad Hatter themed and it was lovely time. Big thanks to the kitchen for the scrumptious cucumber sandwiches, as it’s an unwritten rule to serve them at tea parties! We also served glazed lemon shortbread bites, orange cranberry scones and Biscoff cookies! We obviously serve tea but coffee & punch are served, as well ☺️🎩👒☕️🫖🧁
