Let's hear it for our second Lioness of March... Lynn!🥳
I'm not sure where to start with this amazing human, except to say that I feel deeply honored she chose Lioness for her gym home and am continuously impressed by her dedication to her health, especially on the really hard days. She has learned to listen to her body and adjust as necessary, accepting that each day might look a little different, while still fighting for the next progression or skill. She is eager to learn and always excited to cheer on her fellow Lionesses! She brings great energy and plenty of sass to each workout and we have no doubt she will check off her goals this year both in the gym and beyond!
Keep crushing it, Lynn!💪
Here's her story...
💜Tell us a little about yourself outside of the gym:
I live in Madison with my spouse, kids (20 and 11) and golden retriever Josey! I recently retired due to a significant health event, and am figuring out what life looks like after working 25 years in higher education. I love to read, knit, snuggle the dog, and drink coffee. Sometimes all at the same time! I rediscovering long lost hobbies like painting and playing my guitar. I am obsessing about garden plans for late spring.
💜What brought you to Lioness and what keeps you here?
My friend Kerri invited me. I was excited about the smaller class sizes and women-only spaces. Focusing on strength and balance is an integral part of my health recovery and this gym excels at that!
💜What is your favorite muscle group to work?
Core! And pretty much all of the muscles!!
💜What are you most proud of accomplishing with Lioness?
I’m super proud of lifting heavier each week and truly listening to my body and what it needs. I didn’t expect to find this community. People cheer for each other, ask about daily life, and are so supportive. When my mom unexpectedly passed, I knew my body needed movement. I didn’t hesitate to go to the gym, as I knew I could show up however I was.
💜What is the fitness/wellness goal you would like to accomplish in the next 6 months?
Heavy deadlifts! And start running again. Maybe a 5k?
💜What advice do you have for our newer members or those thinking about jumping in?
Do it!! it can be incredibly intimidating to join a new gym, but this community is amazing and non-judgmental and the trainers are so knowledgeable and welcoming!!
