The postpartum mental health conversation we’re not having enough 💕
Everyone talks about the “baby blues” and postpartum depression like they’re just par for the course, but that doesn’t mean you have to struggle in silence. Postpartum recovery is complex. Mental health, hormonal shifts, physical pain, and nervous system stress all play a role. Your support should reflect all of it.
That’s why we believe in a team approach: your therapist, your OB/midwife, your support system — and yes, chiropractic care too.
Here’s what’s really happening in your body after birth:
⚡ You’re stuck in survival mode - Birth is intense, sleep is scarce, and your nervous system can get locked in “fight-or-flight,” making it impossible to feel calm or regulated.
😴 Sleep becomes a vicious cycle - Your nervous system controls sleep quality, but when it’s overwhelmed, restorative rest feels impossible and poor sleep directly impacts your mood and ability to cope.
🤰 Your gut-brain connection is disrupted - 90% of serotonin (your happy hormone) is made in your gut, but when the vagus nerve isn’t communicating properly, both digestion AND mood suffer.
When you combine perinatal mental health therapy with chiropractic care, optimal mental health outcomes can happen. Therapy gives you the tools to process your emotional experience while chiropractic care optimizes the physical foundation that supports your mental health.
This integrative approach helps because:
✨ Therapy addresses the mind - Processing birth trauma, identity shifts, and overwhelming emotions
✨ Chiropractic supports the body - Optimizing the nervous system that regulates mood, sleep, and stress response
✨ Together they create lasting change - Healing both the neurological and psychological aspects of postpartum wellness
When moms work with both their therapist AND receive chiropractic care, they often experience:
💚 Faster emotional regulation and resilience
💚 Better sleep quality (when baby allows!)
💚 Improved mood and mental clarity
💚 Greater capacity to handle daily stresses
💚 More sustainable healing that addresses root causes
