Today is Jīngzhé 惊蛰; literally ‘awakening of insects’ is the 3rd of 24 solar terms in the traditional East Asian calendars.
The traditional Chinese farming culture said that during Jingzhe, thunderstorms will wake the hibernating insects, which also means the weather is getting warmer, rainfall increases and is considered the best time for the farmers to plant.
On the emotional front, the springtime is associated with the color green and the organ of the Liver. It is a natural time for excitement, growth and productivity. The Liver is likened to the general that gets the job done but if things getting in the generals way, this can mean serious mood swings, frustration and anger. Liver Qi is likened to rain, the right amount makes everything grow but too much can cause a flood and destroy everything. Ride the seasonal phase and be productive while being aware not to overdo it!
It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 345° (middle Pisces) - March 5 and ends when it reaches the longitude of 360° (start Aries) - March 20.
