Let's do inventory! This week we'll be zooming out from the human experience just a little bit, seeing a broader perspective. We'll work on noticing a more generalized sense of "Difficult Emotions".
In the past few weeks we've been zoomed in; we've read, and sat with, and spoke about the concept of "hope", and the concept of "support".
Tonight we'll start with a settling exercise. We'll then talk a bit about some concepts of 'difficult emotions'. We'll then go on to a short meditation, followed by a 15 minute silent journal exercise about three specific areas of how and where difficult emotions have been noticed in our lives, how we work with this, and how it serves us. We will then move on to an opportunity to share if it feels right and demonstrate community support with others in the room. 1 hr total.
We can look at when difficult emotions have actually served us, and we might also notice when difficult emotions have been destructive in our lives and the lives of others. We can look at tools and techniques, and share ideas about how difficult emotions have been worked with in our own lives. We'll touch on noticing the narrative in our experience; in the past, present, and future.
We may look at: personal relationships, work, generational trauma, society, expectations, habits, and more, perhaps. A broad spectrum, without the fine details of the event involved in storytelling. No cheerleading, no hijacking, no fixing.
There is no cost for this community service meet up. Please bring some paper and a writing utensil. If you have a favorite meditation cushion you might choose to bring that. There's not much that's needed in the external environment perhaps. You can just bring yourself, and maybe a friend, and a willingness to be with others in the community that may have a shared experience.
