Great turnout for yesterday’s Respiratory Protection Program/N-95 mask fit test Train-the-Trainer course taught by our partners from NC PHP&R WRO - hosted by MAPHC. A total of 27 personnel from multiple agencies completed the course. .

MAHPC had the privilege of participating in an Emergency Preparedness Fair yesterday with our partners from Polk County Emergency Management/Fire Marshal and multiple other preparedness and response agencies held at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort. There was also a visit from Governor Stein and the First Lady Anna.

Did you know that 13 of MAHPC’s counties are within a 50 mile emergency planning zone of a nuclear station? Thanks to our colleagues from Oconee County Emergency Services, the MAHPC team had the awesome opportunity for a behind the scenes tour of the Oconee Nuclear Station. We appreciate the hospitality of Oconee County and the Duke Energy Oconee Station team!

Day after Labor Day 2005, Henderson County SMAT III & Mtn. Area SMAT II team members deployed to Charlotte to manage medical care at a Hurricane Katrina evacuee receiving site as part of the NC State Medical Response System with a concurrent deployment occurring in Waveland, MS.

It was a privilege to be a part of this coordinated mission to support some of our region's most vulnerable populations. Safely evacuating 90 residents and relocating them across multiple locations was a Herculean effort. All agencies and facilities involved did an amazing job.
