It's time to harvest herbs before the cold sets in. Basil, being highly frost-sensitive, should be harvested early to prevent it from turning mushy. A great way to preserve basil is by blending handfuls with a little water and freezing the mixture in ice cube trays. This method retains its fresh color better than drying. Chives, parsley, and thyme can also be harvested and dried to enjoy their flavors throughout the winter months.
