Watch me origami tomorrow’s Healing Shelf questions in under two minutes 🤓

This month we read Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh, which was a thriller about a serial killer who landed himself on the jury for his own trial. His calling card was that he left a dollar bill, origami folded into a butterfly at the scene of his crimes. So tomorrow at our meeting, participants will unfold a butterfly to reveal a discussion question. I’ll also teach everyone how to make their own origami butterflies!

New book added to The Healing Shelf! Join us next Tuesday 5/19 to talk about Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh. As usual, I have not finished it yet 😬 but it is a thriller about a killer who is on the jury for his own trial. We’ll be discussing the mental health dynamics at play in the book as well as any interesting relationship dynamics that pop up. Hope to see you there!!

🎶 "I want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet, 'cause I haven't moved in years. And I want you right here" 🎶

The wisteria at 4 Main is breathtaking these days. Did you know it can take 7-9 years for this plant to grow from seed to flower? But once it gets established, it can grow 10-15 feet like this in just a couple of years.

The process of change can be like that for people, too. We might put in years of work on ourselves before we see the fruits of our labor, but oh my goodness, when we finally bloom, it's pretty show-stopping.

Holly works hard as Prologue’s senior VP of morale, so when she goes on walks, she likes to optimize her route for maximum treat potential.

Shout out also to who lets her shop, who lets her hang out and who provides fresh, clean water on warm days, and who I didn’t catch on video but who also shares treats and water!

✨Two dozen letters! ✨ That was my goal when I planned the Snail Mail Social, and we made it happen! Thank you to all who came out to support the mission of connecting with senior citizens.

This idea sprang forth during our first meeting of The Healing Shelf book club, when we read The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. It was all about maintaining connection with loved ones via the written word, especially as we age.

I never take enough pictures; once things get going I get too wrapped up in the moment that I forget! That paired with how much interest there was in the event leads me to think we’ll be doing this again very soon 🤗

We’re hiring therapist number EIGHT! Looking for a passionate systemic therapist with evening and/or weekend availability to work in our Flemington office. AMFT or LMFT is preferred, but I will consider all applicants who have experience working with couples and families.

As far as our team goes, we’re a friendly, casual group that likes to have fun together and send the occasional meme in the group chat. We all have our own little niche within systemic work, so we often share perspectives and help each other out.

I learned about The Parking Lot concept from and I thought it was great. Finally, somewhere to corral my constant swarm of ideas!! Then I told my sister about it and she said "so...it's a notebook?" PUH LEASE.

Ok yes, functionally, it's a notebook (mine is the prettiest notebook I ever did see). But the true power is in the system created around it. Humans have very limited working memory, and mine is constantly tied up. So when I have a flash of brilliance, the parking lot is my holding space.

For example, I do not have time right now to build out a weekend couples retreat. But I daydream about it often, and when I have a brilliant idea for something I would want to include, or a way to market it, etc. etc., I park it. The system has decluttered my Notes app, eliminated half a dozen sticky notes around my desk, and stopped me from writing things down in places I am destined never to see again.
