Happy National Speech-Language Pathologist Day to the profession that sees beyond “just speech.” 💜
As SLPs, we help children and adults find their voice, improve feeding skills, support swallowing, strengthen communication, and advocate for better quality of life across every stage of development.
This year, I’m especially proud to celebrate by sharing something that just became available — my book:
📚 Little Mouths, Big Impact: How Oral Function Shapes Feeding, Sleep & Speech
This book was created to help parents better understand the connections between oral function, feeding, mouth breathing, sleep, speech development, and overall regulation in a way that feels practical and approachable.
✨ Now available on Amazon! https://a.co/d/05niTlyn
Whether you’re a parent, therapist, educator, or fellow SLP, I hope it helps bring awareness to how much the mouth impacts the whole body.
Thank you to every SLP out there making a difference every single day. 💜

Breathing games that are actually building lifelong skills? Yes please 👏💨

Myofunctional therapy doesn’t always look like “therapy” — sometimes it looks like laughter, floating balls, focused breathing, and learning how to make the mouth work together as a team.

These activities help support:
• Nasal breathing
• Lip closure
• Oral airflow control
• Tongue function
• Oral motor coordination
• Attention and regulation

And the best part? Kids think they’re just playing. 🎯

Tiny exercises can create BIG impact when it comes to speech, feeding, sleep, and overall oral function. 💜

✨ It’s finally here… ✨

After years of working with patients across the lifespan—and seeing the same questions, concerns, and missed connections over and over—I knew this needed to exist.

📚 Little Mouths, Big Impact: How Oral Function Shapes Feeding, Sleep & Speech is officially out!

This book was written for:
• Parents who feel like something is “off” but can’t quite explain it
• Families navigating feeding, speech, or sleep challenges
• Professionals who want a clearer, functional lens on oral development

Because here’s the truth—
So many things we see in children don’t happen in isolation.

Mouth breathing.
Picky eating.
Speech delays.
Sleep struggles.

They’re often pieces of a bigger picture… and this book helps you understand how they connect—without fear, without overwhelm, and without jumping straight to extremes.

My goal wasn’t just to educate.
It was to give you clarity, confidence, and a new way to see what’s happening.

💬 If you’ve ever wondered:
“Is this normal?”
“Should I be concerned?”
“What do I actually do next?”

This is for you.

👉 Available now on Amazon https://a.co/d/01IlA9Hw
(And I truly can’t wait to hear what you think)

Thank you to every family, patient, and clinician who shaped this work—you’re in these pages. 💜

May the FORCE be with you… and your SPEECH skills too ✨

Today we’re channeling our inner Jedi at Lifespan Therapy 🛸

Because let’s be honest…
✔️ Turning “wabbit” into “rabbit” = Jedi-level articulation
✔️ Expanding from 1-word to full sentences = speech FORCE unlocked
✔️ Trying new foods without fear = ultimate bravery mission

As SLPs, we’re basically training tiny (and not-so-tiny) humans to master communication across the galaxy 🌎

Whether it’s speech, feeding, cognition, or myofunctional therapy…
the real superpower is finding your voice.

Drop a 🚀 if you’re working on your communication skills today
or a ⭐ if you’re supporting someone who is!

It’s Speech-Language Pathologist Month 💬✨

From first sounds…
to first words…
to confident communication across a lifetime—

This is what we do.

Speech-Language Pathologists support:
👶 Feeding, oral motor, and early communication
🧒 Language development, articulation, and social skills
🧑‍🎓 Literacy, fluency, and executive functioning
👩‍💼 Voice, cognition, and professional communication
👵 Swallowing, memory, and quality of life

It’s not just speech.
It’s connection, function, and independence—at every stage.

To my incredible team—thank you for the skill, compassion, and clinical excellence you bring daily.
And to the families we serve—thank you for trusting us with your journey.

Most people think these are just “mouth exercises”… but they’re not.

This is myofunctional therapy—and it’s targeting the foundation of how a child eats, breathes, and speaks.

When the tongue, lips, and jaw aren’t working together correctly, you may see:
• Speech delays
• Picky eating
• Open-mouth posture
• Sleep concerns

These exercises help retrain the body for proper function, not just temporary fixes.

Because when function improves… everything else becomes easier.

👉 Follow along for more ways to support your child’s development.

Picky eating isn’t just about behavior.

It can be:
→ Sensory overwhelm
→ Oral motor challenges
→ Learned fear around food

And when we treat it like “they’re just being difficult”…
we miss what they actually need.

Here’s what matters most:
✨ Pressure doesn’t create progress
✨ Exposure builds confidence
✨ Safety comes before eating

If your child is struggling at meals, you’re not alone—and you’re not stuck.

Big milestone worth celebrating 🎉

Today we’re recognizing Jessie for officially earning her CCCs through American Speech-Language-Hearing Association — a huge accomplishment that reflects dedication, clinical excellence, and a true commitment to this field.

The Certificate of Clinical Competence isn’t just a credential — it represents countless hours of supervised practice, continued learning, and a standard of care that puts clients first. Jessie has shown that every step of the way.

We’re proud to have her on our team and even more excited for the impact she’ll continue to make for our clients and families.

A day in the life of an SLP, mom, and business owner…
Where the schedule is full, the coffee gets reheated 3 times, and the to-do list never actually ends.

From therapy sessions → school pickups → running a business → dinner → documentation after bedtime…
It’s not always balanced, but it’s always worth it.

This is what building a life and a career at the same time really looks like.

Most people try to “fix” tongue thrust.
But that’s not where the problem starts.

Tongue thrust is often the result of something deeper—not the cause.

We’re talking about:
• Airway issues
• Mouth breathing
• Low tongue posture
• Restricted tongue movement

👉 The body adapts to function the best way it can.
Even if that means developing patterns that don’t look ideal.

If you only focus on stopping the habit…
you miss what the body is trying to tell you.

And that’s where progress stalls.

This is why I always say:
Function over appearance. Always.
