Let's give a warm welcome to Aarian Childs, one of our amazing on-call RNs! Aarian has been a nurse for six years, starting in the ICU before transitioning to hospice care.

When we asked her why she chose hospice, she said, "I know what it’s like to lose a loved one, and what better way to give back than to support other families going through rough times."

Aarian shared that her favorite hospice memory was when a family in distress told her that her calm spirit helped them feel better.

Fun fact: Aarian played bass guitar for over five years! When she's not working, she enjoys shopping, traveling, and having fun.

Let's give a warm welcome to Meredith Bryant, one of our truly amazing RNs! With 17 years of nursing experience, Meredith began her career in pediatrics. Although she recognized the unique significance of hospice care during her clinical rotations, she didn't transition into hospice until 2019. After navigating the challenges and emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic, Meredith briefly ventured into real estate. However, her calling to nursing was undeniable, leading her to join the Gentiva team!

A fun fact about Meredith: she's an Army veteran who served from 1999 to 2002. She was stationed in upstate New York during the pivotal events of 9/11.

Outside of her dedication to her patients, Meredith enjoys tackling house projects, discovering exceptional restaurants with delicious food, and cherishing moments with friends. Above all, she is deeply committed to exploring and strengthening her faith.

Meet Shannon Rusan, one of our exceptional RNs! Shannon has been a nurse for three years. Before her nursing career, she worked in HR. Inspired by the compassion and care her grandma's hospice nurses provided, she transitioned to nursing. Shannon is proud to bring comfort and dignity to patients and their families during challenging times.

One of her favorite memories is simply spending time with a patient and their family, sharing stories and laughter. It highlighted the strength of family and humor, even at life's end.

Fun fact: Shannon once went skydiving! She found it exhilarating but says she'd never jump out of a perfectly good airplane again.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending time with her two kids, relaxing at the U.P. cabin her husband built, exploring waterfalls, and enjoying Lake Superior's sandy shores.

We are thrilled to introduce one of our outstanding RNs, Kimberly Webster! Kim has devoted 15 years to nursing and chose hospice care because she cherishes the individual care she can provide to patients and their families. Kim mentioned that she loves being able to support families as their loved ones decline. When Kim isn't working, she enjoys spending time with her kids, like watching anime with her daughter, and she also enjoys reading. Thank you, Kim, for being such a valuable asset to our team!

Let's give a warm shout-out to Julianne Baldiga, one of our incredible RNs! Julianne will be celebrating 18 years as a nurse this August. She started her career while nine months pregnant in the August Alabama heat!

When we asked Julianne why she chose hospice, she said, "I've been a pediatric trauma/ICU nurse for most of my career, and I've seen so many traumatic, unexpected deaths. I'm hoping to experience death in a new light—a peaceful passing."

A fun fact about Julianne: she's an identical twin, and both she and her sister are nurses! Outside of work, she loves hiking trails and visiting the Upper Peninsula.

Meet Angela Kujawa, one of our incredible LPNs! Angie's been a nurse for 37 years, with a 15-year break to raise her family. When asked why she loves hospice, Angie said, "I really get to know the patients. The focus is on comfort, compassionate care, and just being there."

When asked about her favorite hospice memory, Angie shared, "There are so many, but I especially love sitting with patients who are lonely and bringing them a little treat."

Outside of work, Angie enjoys family time, hanging out with her dogs, cheering on the Lions and Tigers, and traveling. She stated, "Michigan is the BEST!"
