JoAnn Jackson has worked in aging services for over 15 years and is the greatest example of what it means to be a servant leader. JoAnn’s teammates recognized her as a leader long before she assumed the supervisor title. JoAnn mentors each new team member and makes them feel welcome and comfortable asking any questions that they need to. Because of her excellence in providing care and her natural leadership abilities, JoAnn was promoted to Resident Care Supervisor.

JoAnn’s selfless service is folded into every aspect of her life. She is very active in her church & other service organizations. Additionally, she provides care to her husband who has significant health challenges, and is now the guardian of her 11-year-old grandson because her daughter passed away unexpectedly in 2022. JoAnn is hailed as a natural leader and with her at the helm, her team doesn’t worry about shifts being covered, new team members being trained, or resident care issues falling through the cracks.

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated an aptitude for and commitment to professional growth as a leader. Additionally, they have successfully assumed expanded leadership responsibilities within a LeadingAge Michigan member organization in the past three years.
