We are beyond proud to celebrate one of our own—Andrew Horst, RN—who was honored with the Heart of Caring Award by Sharp Funeral Home! 💜👏

Andrew’s dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his patients and their families truly embody the heart of hospice care. Whether he’s at the bedside or going above and beyond on his day off, Andy leads with empathy and excellence.

Today we were proud to present Andrew Horst from Swan Hospice with our Heart of Caring Award for the month. Beth King shared the following words about Andrew's heart of caring:

"There are countless reasons why Andy deserves this award. He exemplifies compassion and empathy in every aspect of his work—qualities that set him apart as an exceptional nurse. Andy treats each patient as if they are his only priority, giving them his undivided attention and care. Even on his days off, he goes out of his way to support his patients, showing his unwavering dedication.
"Andy consistently handles the most challenging cases with skill and grace. He has a unique ability to calm even the most anxious patients, putting them at ease with his reassuring presence. It’s no surprise that patients and families frequently request him by name—they know they are in the best hands.
"His clinical expertise is evident in everything he does, and his thoroughness ensures the highest standard of care. Andy goes above and beyond every single day, all while maintaining a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He never complains, no matter the circumstance.
"Both patients and families are fortunate to have Andy as their nurse, just as we are lucky to have him as part of our Swan family. He truly embodies what it means to be an extraordinary nurse."

As the winner of our Heart of Caring Award, Andrew received a Heart of Caring glass heart, his name inscribed on our Heart of Caring Award plaque, and a $100 American Express gift card. Swan Hospice was honored to bring smiles to the faces of residents at MediLodge, Wellsprings, and Winter Village this morning!🦩🦖🦢💃

We loved every moment of parading through the halls in our inflatable costumes, sharing laughter and connection with staff and residents alike. These are the moments that make what we do so meaningful 💙
