While a 3D mammogram (also known as digital breast tomosynthesis) isn't necessarily more comfortable than a traditional 2D mammogram in terms of breast compression, some patients report that the experience feels slightly better because the machine may move more smoothly and take images more quickly. The biggest benefit, though, is in accuracy:

-3D mammograms provide clearer images, especially for women with dense breast tissue.
-They result in fewer call-backs for additional testing, which can reduce anxiety and discomfort in the long run.

The improved clarity and reduced need for retakes can make the overall experience feel better and more reassuring.

Certain diseases, such as osteoporosis, cause the bones to lose density.

Osteoporosis is a dangerous and debilitating condition, but fortunately, it can be detected early and treated with DEXA bone densitometry screenings. Women are at a 4X greater risk for osteoporosis than men.

The doctors at the Regional Medical Imaging recommend that all women over 65 have a DEXA test, as well as men over 65 with low testosterone levels.
