Grief is Love's Echo.

We grieve because we loved deeply.
The pain is real — but so is the bond.
Let that echo remind you: your love still matters.

Reminder: It's OK to find difficult times difficult.
You don’t need to be “strong” all the time. Grief is tough — and that’s normal. Be gentle with yourself today.

It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Ele’s Place – Greater Flint & Genesee County will suspend operations and close our office on August 16, 2024 due to local budgetary challenges. This decision was not made lightly. We explored every possible option to keep our doors open, but ultimately, this sad decision was also a necessary one.

To our supporters: Thank you. Your belief in our mission and vision has enabled us to provide grief support to thousands of children, teens and families over the seven years we’ve served this community.

To our families: Our hearts are with you. We will do everything we can to ensure you continue to receive the support you need. That may look a little different going forward, but we intend to offer alterative programming options including virtual programs, the continuation of our school-based program, and additional resources such as phone consultations and the option to attend on-site programs at one of our other branches. If you need additional resources or support, please call our Lansing office at 517-482-1315, or Ann Arbor at 734-929-6640. A detailed resource list is available on our website at: https://elesplace.org/branch-locations/greater-flint-and-genesee-county/about

To our team: You are some of the most kind-hearted and dedicated folks we’ve ever known. Your passion and hard work have been invaluable. We are truly grateful for all you’ve done and are proud of every accomplishment we’ve been able to make together in this community.

The past seven years have seen countless tears, laughs, hugs and memories. Please feel free to share your favorite moments and stories with us in the comments so that we can continue to support one another as we reflect on all we’ve experienced together.

Whatever your connection to us, you will forever be a part of our story. Thank you.

A special shoutout to the Bappert family for their continued support in memory of their father, Jim Bappert. Mr. Bappert was instrumental in opening our Greater Flint & Genesee County branch. The Bappert family purchased supplies and materials for this year's bubble release, an annual tradition with our families before we pause weekly programs for the summer. We are grateful for your dedication to Ele's Place! ❤️

Did you know that at Ele's Place, support groups for parents or guardians of participating kids/teens meet in a separate space at the same time? Facilitated by licensed clinicians, these groups help support adults in their grief so they can be more present with their child’s/teen’s grief.

July is National Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, a time to recognize parents' journeys through grief after the death of a child. As always, we are so grateful to the Stover family, who founded our healing center for grieving children, teens and their families after the death of their daughter Ele. Thanks to their vision and dedication along with so many community supporters, Ele's Place has served more than 33,000 individuals — completely free of charge — since 1991. ❤️
