In a significant win for Texas and patients, Office of the Governor Greg Abbott yesterday signed into law legislation—filed at the urging of the Texas Pharmacy Association—to help curb some of the anti-competitive, anti-consumer practices of benefit managers (PBMs). Senate Bill 1236 by Sen. Bryan Hughes Hughes will help address abusive business practices of PBMs by requiring contract fairness and transparency, ensuring compliance with existing PBM laws, and prohibiting unfair fees.
