First, I always appreciate the responses you all have. Trust me when I tell you, we value each one of them and use them to become better. Next one for you to ponder and respond. I was asked the other day if I could narrow down the top 4 or 5 "life lessons" of camp. Not what we do or how we do it.....but the "lesson/s". Initially, I told him there were too many to even list, not to mention what alumni campers or staff would say. Some life lessons are by design, and others are developed through the individual's journey. Everything we do at camp has a purpose, some simply to have fun. I have learned simple lessons and definitely many profound lessons that enabled me to navigate this life with HOPE. I have learned from my years as a chief to get up, make my bed, do my chores, and start my day with a goal. I have learned from walking these trails that life has a lot of sugar sand when I feel like I am going nowhere. I have learned that the sun will go down and come up again in the morning, and things will look different. I have learned to not go to bed until the problem has been addressed--not always solved, but not ignored. I know my behavior impacts others, whether they dare to tell me that or not. Whatever I am going through, someone has it better, and someone has it worse.
