People make one of two mistakes this time of year, but understanding the 3rd option is life changing.
Some people avoid trying at all, and resort to all-or-nothing thinking and wait until January or, they try to rely on “willpower” and try to deny themselves this time of year, until they can’t anymore. Neither works.
Your body responds to improvements. How can you do better than normal this holiday? (enjoying yourself to an extent is mandatory). Will you lose 20lbs? Probably not, but if you did, it wouldn’t be real. It would come back.
Did you gain 5 last year, and the goal right now is to maintain. Amazing. Do you stress about weight every year, and this year you just want to take the pressure off? Love that.
Real weight loss is a reflection of real change you make within yourself. And I GET it, we all want it yesterday. But, if you give yourself some grace, at this time next year, you won’t have to worry about it ever again.
