Charlene McKnight is the founder and executive director of Four Giving Hearts , Incorporated. Affectionately known as FGH, the 501(c)(3) organization is based out of Georgetown, South Carolina, and serves the P*e Dee and Low Country regions. Through the organization, Ms. McKnight works with members of communities, businesses, and other organizations to foster “for” giving hearts and responsible citizenship with a focus on health, family, education, and community. In addition to managing and serving with FGH, she also serves the community as a member of various nonprofit and civic organizations.
She is a 2004 and 2008 graduate of Francis Marion University and a 2010 graduate of Columbia College. She has been a high school English teacher since 2009 and has worked with various programs to include The Center of Excellence for College and Career Readiness, Upward Bound, and the Migrant Education Program. In addition to being certified in Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid, she is a proud certified teacher, Global Career Development Facilitator, Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Advocate, reputable servant leader, and business owner. As the owner of She Teaches & I Learn, LLC., Ms. McKnight serves as an instructor, public speaker, and consultant on college and career readiness.
Ms. McKnight, who was recognized on the “P*e Dee Under Forty 2020 ‘Next Generation’” list in The Community Times, 2020 Glory 98.5 Black History Shaker, 2021 South Carolina Blackpages Top 20 under 40 recipient, 2022 SC Heroes in the Community recipient, 2023 Shirley Tomlin Award recipient, 2023 City of Florence Resolution recipient, 2023-2024 teacher of the year, 2024 Jefferson Award recipient, 2025 League Life feature, and 2026-2027 teacher of the year, has received many additional awards and recognitions for her dedication to community service and education.
