Project Luna Is Seeking Mothers to Help Improve Maternal Mental Health Support

Project Luna is committed to listening to mothers and improving support after childbirth.

Our Program Director, Alisha Dreiling, PhD candidate at Amridge University, is conducting doctoral research focused on mothers who have experienced an adverse childbirth within the past 12 months. This research seeks to better understand how birth experiences may affect maternal mental health and the mother–infant bond during the first year.

Participation includes a confidential consent form, brief questionnaire, and an in-person interview at an IRB-approved therapist office.

If you feel comfortable sharing your experience and helping improve care for future mothers, please email:
admin@waccounseling.com

Your voice matters. Through Project Luna and Safer Birth in Bama, we remain committed to supporting healing, understanding, and stronger outcomes for mothers and babies across Alabama.

It’s so hard to know what to say…but say something…ask the baby’s name, or use it if you already know 🩷💙

It's so hard to know what to say to a loved one who has experienced the death of their baby. Sometimes, people say things that are meant to be comforting, but aren't, things like "It wasn't meant to be" or "You can have another baby." Or worse, they say nothing at all.

It is not possible to take a grieving parent’s pain away, though we all wish we could. Instead, simply acknowledge their baby and their great loss. Say things that validate their grief.
It can be uncomfortable, yes. However, being there in supportive ways is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

Reach out to us if you need help supporting your loved one.

As we enter this very busy season, our practice will pause our groups (with the exception of Rooted in Care, our group for caregivers of others with special needs...that will meet on Dec 10 at 10 am at the library). This will give our staff & our clients one less appointment, and allow everyone to focus on their mental health over the holidays. Questions or comments? Feel free to contact us via messenger or comment below :).
