Alisha Dreiling didn’t set out to become an advocate for maternal mental health, but like many women, her path began in the most personal way possible — through her own

We’re honored to be featured on WAAY 31 News highlighting the work being done through Safer Birth in Bama and our community’s efforts to improve maternal and infant health across Alabama. 💙

Our mission continues to focus on increasing access to care, improving outcomes, and supporting evidence-based maternity care across the state.

Community support through Shoals Mom Prom helps make programs like Project LUNA (postpartum mental health support) and hospital partnerships possible.

Repair is one of the most powerful parenting tools you’ll ever use. 💛

You don’t have to get it right the first time.
You don’t have to be perfectly calm.
You don’t have to avoid every mistake.

What matters most is showing your child that relationships can bend… and come back together. 🧩

When you model repair, you teach your child:
✨ mistakes are safe to admit
✨ big feelings can be managed
✨ relationships can be rebuilt
✨ accountability matters
✨ we can always try again

Your child isn’t learning that you’re perfect.
They’re learning that you’re human — and that love doesn’t disappear after hard moments. 🤍

That’s what builds emotional security.

It’s not the rupture that shapes them… it’s the repair. 🌱

When a baby dies in pregnancy, at birth or in childhood the love for them never dies, it remains deep, raw, and unshakable. Parents speak their child’s name or talk about their existence, not because they are stuck in the past, but because they now carry their little one’s legacy into the future.

Talking about their baby is a way to keep them present. To acknowledge that they were here, even if for the briefest of moments. A life does not have to be long to be meaningful, and a child does not have to take a breath for their existence to be real. Parents share their baby’s story because silence feels like a second loss, one that erases the love, the hope, and the dreams that existed the moment that child was conceived.

Some may struggle to understand why parents hold on so tightly, but to them, their baby is not just a memory, they are a part of their soul. Speaking their name or telling their story is an act of defiance against the cruelty of loss. It is a way of saying, They mattered. They are loved. They will not be forgotten.

And so, parents will continue to whisper their child’s name into the world, long after the world has moved on. Because love, true love, never fades.

If you or someone you love is experiencing baby loss, The Baby Loss Guide is more than just a book, it’s a tool to help you navigate loss. Let me guide you toward hope and a future, where love and loss can coexist.

“Defiant”… or dysregulated?

Before correcting—look at what’s underneath.

Refusing to put shoes on? → Try: “Want help or do it yourself?”
Yelling “no”? → Offer two choices to regain control
Meltdown mid-task? → Pause. Regulate. Then come back to teach

When kids feel safe and regulated, cooperation comes a lot easier.

Connection first → then direction 🤍
